Quote from Syprik:
Tax Policy Center estimates that relative to current law, McCain/Obama tax proposals would be as follows:
McCain: Addition of $4.2-$7.0 trillion to the federal debt over ten years (2009-2018).
Obama: Addition off $2.6-$2.9 trillion to the federal debt over ten years (2009-2018).
As a fiscal conservative/registered IND, I have yet to see a clear McCain policy plan that proves it will be more fiscally responsible than Obama, a Democrat. Last I checked, "earmarks" don't run in the $trillions and good luck cutting back on that much spending with a Dem controlled Congress and an unresolved Iraq war situation. Everyone wants tax cuts, everyone also wants to retire early, drive a Ferrari, whole nine. But when push comes to shove, tax cuts need to be responsible. Republican congressmen of the last 8yrs, many of whom have controlled Congress for the better part of the last 14yrs, have "much" to prove in spending responsbility. Until they can prove such, further tax cuts are completely wreckless with a federal debt that just doubled under Bush.
