I used to have this perspective, but when you are in a 3rd world country w/an enemy eons more sophisticated fighting like "men" w/drones, night vision, 2 mile range snipers, all sorts of long range weaponry, etc... It's not exactly hand to hand trench warfare. Dirty war is the only way to make things even (by switching popular support for occupation in your enemy's country)
Yeah this is one area where i actually agree with both you and Bill Maher..... We love to talk about these guys as if they are chicken shit while we are fighting a war on computers with a much much lower chance of casualty.
Is it awful to attack civilians who have no chance to fight back? Absolutely. But with that said, to say those guys have any less balls when they know their life can be ended with a drone strike at any moment i dont think fully tells the story. These guys are willing to fight and die for their cause, and alot more than we are, i think it is certainly inaccurate to call them cowards.
We fight wars from afar with casualties limited by technological advantages. They stand in on the front lines where there life can be ended at any moment.
This is where we are going wrong just like in vietnam. If a guy is willing to pull the pin on a grenade and kill himself as long as he takes a few infidels down with him you cant win that war. So long as one guy is willing to kill himself to take down 20 people with him, its almost impossible to win, only thing we can do is limit the damage, contain them to where they are push them out of areas we think have a chance. But they certainly arent cowards, thats the biggest mistake we make.
Keep them the fuck out of here and let them blow themselves up, other than that its a lost cause.
