Marrying for money

Quote from 9999:

Nice line.
Now, imagine if the opposite happened: she went on a trip, bought a drawing (or something else) she liked very much, showed it to you, and you thought it was horrible (and actually told her so). Was she gonna hang it anyway? Give you a present to make it up to you?
Don't get me wrong, what you did was very slick, you were able to anchor something she didn't like to a special moment. But....

I hear ya. She bought me a sixpack and brought home a parrot. I'm outta beer and that damn bird is still here. Sheesh, I hate that bird.

If you guys are typical traders I don,t want to join.I've been married for 61 years. At times it has been a rocky road but one well worth travelling.:)

Most of the haters here are the guys who have realized that they don't have what it takes to attract a good woman. They're just employing a psychologically understandable defense - 'Goddamn women are all bitches'.

I get laid because I treat them with respect. Amazing how that works!

For me the argument isn't about marriage being right or wrong, I'm married too and I think it is worth it. But my word is that statements like "I love you" are only used to entertain oneself and to make time go faster. If ever one does feel love, it is only the feeling that arises from attachment, and so the mind's constant focus on that specific person.

And to this idiotic broad there is a perfectly good reason why you see these plain janes married to some of these wealthy guys in Manhattan !!

LOL, that's not why you see that. It's because while these guys were working crazy hours trying to make it on Wall Street, the hot broads were busy trying to sleep with their bosses. Their current wives are the girls who stuck by them and probably got them into marriage before they hit it big. The girls supported the men emotionally, maybe even financial, which does speak volumes.

Still, most of these guys now have mistresses, which they also have to pay off with apartments & shopping sprees.
Also, they are MARRIED! It's a ball and chain, hence they can't just trade up withous serious financial consequences.

Maybe some of them are happy with their wives, but I bet most would love an easy escape, get a trophy GF and be irresponsible for a while. That's my guess, considering most men cheat or at least try to. I still find it inconceivable that a man & woman can be loyal to each other for more than 10 years. It's completely against nature.

I feel sorry for you. Really. This is a sad post.

Of course tons of people marry for reasons of expediency. That means nothing.

My parents are so in love after 40 years of marriage, they're like one person. I'm sure they will pass within a few months of each other. They still hold hands.

Love is a psychological projection at best

A seratonin high at worst

It's not that simple my man, not that simple at all.

You can love'em and respect'em, and they can still be total hos ... you just can't ge mad at'em, there's no point to it.

Just move on to the next one.

Nope.

Love is very, very real.

It can open any number of different chakras, and take you to places and teach you things that you would have never have known before.

It just doesn't last forever ... for several years maybe, yeah.

But the rest is societal conditioning (which you must admit, plays a huge part in the whole marriage drama).
