First off marriage is like investing you got THAT right. Having been married twice I have this wisdom of experience.
Men think with their penises. Hormones drive most young males actions in relationships and that is why all of you have this problem. Luck is also a great factor. If you marry the girl who is the best fuck (a typical act by the masses of guys), on the long run you will have trouble. Most American woman are gold-digging cunts who hate men. My first wife was American but she was different, we had no children so we separated and amicably divorced. She did not ask for a cent of alimony, BECAUSE I did not pick a worthless, uneducated, no good bitch. She was educated and nice. An exception from the rule but a possibility.
The ideal thing most people do is getting a foreign wife. Obviously that can go horribly wrong but you have to have some wisdom of knowing a person and knowing yourself. Most fuckers have no clue in this arena. Finding a wife is harder than picking a good stock. This is because there are no rating and evaluating agencies and search possibilities. Many women lie and want to get married so they do not have to find jobs and work. You have to be in control. When I was married I had just lost my consulting job and was in dire straights, financially. I told her to get a job, because women had won this right and we have this so called "equality".

What you said is actually a good reason why people should get married young. There's a better chance of true love and the gal is not jaded by years of being a slut. If marriage is a partnership based on unyielding love, it's literally the best thing in the world. I give you kudos.
The older the gal gets the worse marriage material she becomes, both in personality and spending her sexual value. I really find it amazing that women demand marriage when their market value is already becoming low. I don't know why guys marry them but a guy should never want to become a bagholder of another guys conquests.

Although as you say above there is no rating agency, a good "rating device" is her own family.
Contact, reach out, get to know her own family, if your wife or propsed wife has issues and problems with mother, father, sisters, brothers, cousins and its looks like it is her not them. Then just leave now, find another woman.
Who would know her best, her family has known her, her whole life.

Excellent point about taking a long, hard look at her family, because in most cases she will be doing the same about yours, but for totally different reasons, such as a well-respected name, assets she may be able to get her hands on the future, and so forth. Women are totally cold-hearted and practical in this realm. "But I love him so much! bullshit! Also, there could be a lot of sick behaviors and co-dependencies under the surface with her family members. If she spends most of her time with her own, with little regard for yours, there is usually a reason, run away as fast as possible. The old saying "you never really know someone until the divorce", is a sad way to find out. Best to stack the deck in your favor from the start.
Also your checking out her gene pool, if there are 2-3 alcoholics in her immediate family, chances are one of your children will be affected as well. Or just look for any mental health issues.
Guys spend more time researching a football team or a new car purchase than they do researching and thinking the short-term and long term about a wife. When in reality, the biggest purchase we make in our lives is not a home, it is a wife.

kids need a FATHER and a MOTHER for a role model - if the poor child goes to school as a BASTARD his/her self-esteem will suffer. Sadly a family is not PC is the USA, but trust me, for a girl a father is more important than having a guy around. Grant you instead of a "marriage" you can have an family LLC but that is rare. What is more common is guys shacking up making babies and split, leaving a poor kid around to be raised by a single parent or often by grandparents. This sadly happens in all economic strata or ethnicity.
