This is really amusing since there is considerable anthropological and geological evidence that there really was a local - and I emphasize local - Flood in the Mesopotamian region.

Once again, you're arguments are simply that you don't like the way God does things. That's fine. I do and we differ on that.

And why are you accusing God of mass murder? Can you not conceive of a reason God would have to do this? Do you really think that God would create the earth and mankind and then go, "Oh great! Now I get to wipe out all those poor slobs! This ought to be fun!"

The Bible is clear: this was capital punishment NOT murder. I think you know this and so I don't know what your point is except to take a cheap shot at all the Jews and Christians on the board.

He destroyed mankind for the same reason he destroyed the dinosaurs 65 million years previous.

And I have to ask: why are you using a book you don't believe in to argue against God? If the Bible is true, then it is possible that the earth was so wicked that God had to invoke capital punishment. But you despise the Bible, so how can we even have a conversation about it?

No, I am not saying it was possibly necessary. I am saying it WAS necessary.

And if you would read the actual passage in the Bible instead of pulling something off of infidel.org, you would see that that was true.

The Bible is clear: "every thought of mankind was wicked" so God invoked capital punishment.

This is NOT a "whim" as you put it. It was a judicial sentence.
 
EX 7:1, 14, 9:14-16, 10:1-2, 11:7 The purpose of the devastation that God brings to the Egyptians is as follows:
to show that he is Lord;
to show that there is none like him in all the earth;
to show his great power;
to cause his name to be declared throughout the earth;
to give the Israelites something to talk about with their children;
to show that he makes a distinction between Israel and Egypt.

You think that because you wouldn't it next door to you there shouldn't be one anywhere in your city.

You think that anyone saying they don't want one next door to them but allowing that there could be one somewhere in the city is a "hypocrite".

That's absurd.

You don't want a cement factory next to you -- regardless of the reasons why -- and yet I'm quite certain you would allow a cement factory somewhere in a city, and I'm certain you don't feel the slightest bit hypocritical about it.

And you're assuming that an adult bookstore must be "next door" to someone, when that's not even true. Ever heard of commercial and industrial zones?
