Quote from ShoeshineBoy:

No, you are ignoring the facts. The Hebrews were a tiny group of people brutally held captive by the most powerful civilization on the planet. How else could God keep the Egyptians from not pursuing the completely defenseless Israelites?

And if the babies died peacefully, then the only pain was for the Egyptian parents. And these are the very parents who have enslaved the Hebrews and other surrounding nations! What is unfair about that?

I find this amusing because if you were talking to a Jew you would emphasize how great it was that they were freed from Egyptian slavery. But since it's fashionable to slam Christians, you take the Bible out of context and make it say something it doesn't.

you mean to say that this omnipotent god had no other choice??! this [Final] solution ..EXTERMINATION.. is the only solution??

Thx - I'll take the trash-talking as victory for my position.

fat chance, you embrace an mass murderer and condone his actions..

you have a long long way to go b4 you can claim anything resembling victory my poor lost friend.

I see you continue to dodge the questions and issues I raised.

Why is that?

lets begin at the beginning shall we:

EX 12:29 The Lord kills all the first-born in the land of Egypt.

Now, Mr Rogue, tell us why that not only does this NOT concern you but you wholeheartedly condone such an act of cruelty?

I'm waitnig..

Aarggh! I'll say it again: corporal punishment is NOT mass murder!

Great - avoid my response and keep asking around until you find someone who will agree with your twisting of the Bible.

If the babies died painlessly and their end was already known (which if there is a God would be true), then this was in NO way cruel.

Answering a question with a question is what little children do.

You can continue to dodge the question and issues I raised, you can post in whatever size you like, you are not answering a simple and direct question of mine concerning previous statements you made.

Why is that?

This is ridiculous! How else could God free the Hebrew people?!? The Hebrews were slaves in the mightiest civilization on the planet!

Hol-ee cow! You're right! How could God ever free the Hebrews from the clutches of the mighty Egyptians without exterminating them.

Come on Shiney, think a little bit would ya? I've got no problem at all with your being Christian, or wishing to defend your beliefs, but, crap, it's theists like you that give the rest of us a bad name!

I mean, HE'S GOD, for crying out loud. I'm SURE he could think of SOME other way of freeing the Hebrews that didn't require killing the Egyptians. For you to defend God's actions by claiming he HAD to do what he did is ridiculous. God may have had excellent reason for what he did, the Bible may include this story for a variety of reasons. Use those defences. Not "he HAD to, man, it was the only way to free the Jews". That's absurd.
