Mark Cuban cancels national anthem

Not that it really matters, but he is kind of a pussy for being afraid to give
an explanation.

My own opinion is the NA at games is kind of dated and fairly pointless.
Its just a sporting event, not a coming home event for our troops.

The Dallas Mavericks have stopped playing the national anthem before home games at the direction of owner Mark Cuban, he confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.

The Mavericks do not plan to resume the tradition to play the national anthem before games in the future.

Cuban, who declined further comment, made the decision after consulting with NBA commissioner Adam Silver. The Mavericks did not announce the change in policy, but the national anthem has not been played before any of their 13 preseason and regular-season games at the American Airlines Center this season.
 
The easiest way for a team owner to address the issue is to simply not play the national anthem before games --- thereby avoiding all the controversy. Keeping quiet about it and not making a statement is wise on Cuban's part as well.

If these teams were U.S. national teams playing in the Olympics, World Cup, etc. then I can see the need to play (and have the players respect) the national anthem when you represent the U.S. playing on an international stage.

If you are a sports team in the U.S. -- unless you have tie-ins to the military presenting at your games -- at this point it is probably best not play the national anthem and avoid upsetting your fans on both sides of the issue of players disrespecting it. This also eliminates the "stage" for players trying to make political statements while "on the job".

Fox News was complaining about it this morning so republicans are still pissed off.They had the dumbest arguments too saying it was bad because Dallas is home to Americas team(Cowboys ) and The Mavericks play in American Airlines arena :confused:
 
When I was kid the nfl used to cut to the announcers or commercial during the national anthem. I don’t even recall it being played at nba games when I was a kid. Baseball was always different but the national anthem always fit there because baseball is America’s past time- kind of on brand.

Yes. And all American flags are to be replaced with Trump flags as we saw.
 
I assume he's trying to be "inclusive" since the anthem doesn't represent all people
supposedly.


In other news... remember what cuban said about 6 years ago..
