looking like a clean shooting & 16 yo
So the officer shouldn't be the "next"? Did you get your initial information from the same news source as L. James?
looking like a clean shooting & 16 yo
What is the difference between a teenager and a young adult?
......
So....?

It was a good shoot, imo.Ma'Khia Bryant yelled 'gonna stab the f*** out of you', video shows Nicholas Reardon had 9 seconds to respond
Reardon arrived on the scene, yelled for everyone to get down several times, before firing his weapon to stop Bryant from stabbing the other girl

It was a good shoot, imo.
As Harvey Levin discussed, it would have been better for him to yell, "DROP THE KNIFE!!" instead.
People may not assume that you are talking to them when you yell general things like "get down." It'll probably just cause people to turn, to look and see who you are yelling at.

I didn't see the knife until she was swinging it, it's a tough ask given the time. She'd have gotten at least one jab in. FWIW, that looked like a steak knife w/a blunt point, but we can't expect cops to make those calls in such short amount of timeGreat observation...
Yelling to get down (he's warning others) seems a little odd in comparison to drop the knife (gives a warning to the knife holder).
The guy that kicked and stomp on the fallen girl right in front of the Police...that guy should be charged with assault in my opinion.

I believe that girl originally had the knife. He was defending with his feet. The guy that kicked and stomp on the fallen girl right in front of the Police...that guy should be charged with assault in my opinion.

My point was not to say he was "wrong" in what he said, or didn't say.It was a good shoot, imo.
all i'm saying is, the armchair quarterbacking I've been hearing for this case has been unreasonable. It was a split second decision and luckily he made one of the "better ones" under the circumstances. My point was not to say he was "wrong" in what he said, or didn't say.
My point was that it would have been better to say, "DROP THE KNIFE!"
Who knows, the girl might not have realized, in her state of mind, that the police were there. Yelling "DROP THE KNIFE!" in command voice might have snapped her out of it; and maybe she'd be alive today.
And he had enough time to think, and yell, "get down!" ... more than once.
I didn't go into additional (to my previously stated) reasoning, but since we are here anyway:
Had the assailant lived, she wouldn't viably be able to be charged with disobeying an order, as the order was too vague, and non-specific.
