Maybe his intent was only to scare them off? The fact of the matter is that his was attempted assault and the other was assault. At the end of the day, there is no reason to support the one and not the other.

Incidentally, JR stopped assaulting because he was pressured to. Who knows how far it would have gone had no one said to stop or tried to stop him. Not you, not I. Just another example of people looking at one scenario in one light, and the other in another. And probably because of skin color.

Scaring them off with the swords definitely not something he would get in trouble for unless the swords are considered a concealed weapon, but maybe he can prove he is a ninja and always carries haha. They looked like a wall decoration or something silly like that.

But even if the police got the video of that, they would not go after anyone in such circumstances. Just like they will not (but should) go after video of looters showing their faces or car plates.

Like if I ran out of my car with a pair of nunchaku swinging it around in NY to chase away people who threw a rock at my car and a police was approaching nearby, I am pretty sure the rock throwers would have scattered but I woudl have gotten in trouble since nuchaku are illegal concealed weapons.

JR' case is unique in that the cops would not go after him based on the video for some ass kicking as long as it was limited (i..e the guy did not die or lose both eyes). The guy whose ass he kicked will not file a police report because...well I assume he threw a brick/rock at the car and would have to admit his crime to do so unless he lies but video does not.

People who start fights never go to the police unless they are pussies who got beat down and it usually never goes anywhere.

Queens ‘Wolverine’ man charged with attempted murder

The man caught on camera chasing down Black Lives Matter demonstrators with a Wolverine-type claw in Queens has been charged with attempted murder, authorities announced Thursday.

Frank Cavalluzzi, 54, was filmed chasing protesters in Whitestone on Tuesday while wearing a glove with four long, serrated-edge blades attached — before getting into his SUV, driving onto the sidewalk and attempting to mow them down, prosecutors said.

“I will kill you,” he allegedly yelled at the protesters, according to prosecutors.

Cavalluzzi, whom police sources called a known troublemaker in the area, was arrested Thursday morning.

He was arraigned on a laundry list of charges, including attempted murder in the second degree, attempted assault in the first and second degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, menacing in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

“In a burst of anger and rage, this defendant allegedly sought to kill protesters who were peacefully assembled and exercising their right to free speech,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement.

“No one at any time should infringe upon another’s Constitutionally-protected freedoms and doing so with the intent to injure and maim is criminal.”

Katz said it was “amazing” that no one was injured in the melee.

Queens Criminal Court Judge Mary Berjarano set Cavalluzzi’s bail at $100,000. His next court appearance is set for July 2.

If convicted, he faces up to 25 years in prison.

His attorney didn’t return a call from The Post on Thursday night.
