the first site I clicked for failed socialism is below. ...
Then I think about all the wrecked american cities due to lefty policies.
exgoper's list of gdp states is far off point.
Many of the states boomed prior to becoming lefty. California was once libertarian... not that long ago. the 80s and earlier.
Do lefties really think that socialism is good for the well being of the people are they just pushing the idea to lower carbon use?
What I think OP is looking for is a list of Western European nations, "westernized" nations, and former colonies who have undergone economic liberalization after periods of left-wing economic policy. I can think of very few. I can think of:
And here are the officially socialist and formerly socialist states and former states.

Current Marxist-Leninist countries include:
Non Marxist-Leninist Socialist Countries
Note that Venezuela isn't on that list. Anybody know why? This makes me think it's missing others as well.

- New Zealand
- Canada
- UK
- Singapore
- Hong Kong
- Chile
- Japan (a very interesting case of a country whose economy was stagnant under nationalism, and then boomed from imposed-liberalization, and then was stupefied in a Keynesian experiment gone mad)
- West Germany (where the "German economic miracle" was sparked by a single man abolishing wage and price controls against the wishes of the American, French, and British occupiers.)
- Estonia (whose young Prime Minister reformed the post-USSR economy based on suggestions in Milton Friedman's Free to Choose)
And here are the officially socialist and formerly socialist states and former states.
