What does this have to do with the Berkeley topic that was under discussion?
Many K-12 schools require school uniforms including a number of public and charter schools.
Nearly every pubic K-12 school system in our state (and every other state) has dress codes which dictate that females cannot have their mid-riff showing, must have shoulders covered, and have minimum lengths on shorts/skirts.
A number of females have protested these restrictions saying they are sexist. Most educators (who are liberals BTW), school board members (who are all Democrats in Wake County where I live), and parents support these dress code restrictions for females. We are seeing a trend where females are suing schools over these dress codes -- but this is a nation-wide issue. Many school systems have been sued in the liberal north-east as well.
In the long term I don't think the courts will force the schools systems to change their dress codes as long as schools point to how the dress code is in place to enhance the educational process and necessary to maintain an environment that is focused on learning -- and can provide evidence of the correlation.
