Looks like North Carolina is about to repeal HB2

Which part of discrimination is bad do you fail to understand?

r u kidding? It's wrong to keep grown men out of women's bathrooms? You think that's discrimination? If enough perverts protest, let them do it?

It's not appropriate to let people do obviously wrong things just because people protest. That you don't get that is stupifying.

And if the State Legislature does not repeal their ordinance by December 31st then the Charlotte ordinance remains in place. BTW over 30 other towns and cities have also vowed to pass the exact same ordinance in January if the state legislature does not rescind HB2.

As well as many large businesses gave until the state until December 31st to rescind HB2 or they would move out of state or not expand. Also the MLS stated that North Carolina would not be granted an expansion team unless HB2 was repealed by December 31str.

Incoming Governor Cooper brokered the deal to repeal HB2.

The state of North Carolina could no longer put up with the pain of this discriminatory law.

a. So what if they lose business? Is that all the women of North Carolina are worth to you? You'll sell them down the river for a few bucks?

b. The article I referenced said the deal was on the table for the last six months and the city of Charlotte would not go along with it until now because those perverted deviants thought it would be a good election issue and get a lot of perverted deviants to vote for Cooper.
The GOP legislature disputed almost every point the city of Charlotte and Cooper said about the 'brokering' of this deal.

The fact is that this deal would not have happened if the city of Charlotte had let their ordinance remain in place. Period. No matter how many other cities passed this warped ordinance.

I really can't believe that anyone of sound mind thinks men should have a legal right to go in women's bathrooms. It boggles my mind. How has this country devolved to this level.

I wonder how much of that will be picked up by local taxpayers?

This may come as a shock to you, but not everyone's principles are for sale. If some soccer team or the NBA or Bruce Springsteen don't like it, fuck them. Let them bully you and you are a cuck. NC should double down on them and put a huge tax on entertainment revenues. And maybe pull the two state schools out of the ACC. The SEC would be waiting.

I can only take it that you support discrimination and rolling back our civil rights laws by 100 years.

Well fortunately most of the state's residents and business leaders disagree that discrimination is good.

North Carolina has a "rural" legislature. Unfortunately our state legislature represents the values of right-wing "religious" conservatives who actively support discrimination and are willing to go the any degree to set back business advancement... and simply keep our state economy agriculture-based as it was a century ago. These are the same clowns that run ABC stores in many counties that deliberately (and proudly) make it as difficult as possible to buy liquor. (I'll describe my recent experience purchasing rum in Person County sometime.)

Sadly enough these rural "welfare" counties with the conservative representatives take most of the money provided by hard-working, fully employed suburban counties of our state and waste it. One good example is the gas tax, rural counties get one dollar back in roads (some of which are totally unneeded) for every 22 cents they spend in gas taxes. Suburban areas such as Raleigh and Charlotte get one dollar back in roads for every $3.11 we spend in gas tax.

BTW - the SEC refused to allow college teams in their conference to attend any post season playoffs for any sport in North Carolina.

I never lived in New Jersey nice try.

Now let me ask... Do you believe government should track each and every one of your liquor purchases?
Why do you think they ask for your drivers license when you buy? That gets scanned, and the state knows and can deny you disability and then they sneak it over to the health insurance company and they raise your rates a little (in an ideal post aca world.)

The bathrooms aspect of this is a religious issue. It appears to be a GOP or "conservative" issue because that's where the religious block has lurked a long time. GOP and conservatives would be foolish to be bullied by a religious faction in the party, and Trump is right to be more flexible than narrow minded bigots.

It sounds alarming to make black/white arguments like it's all about letting perverts in with America's little girls.

Data and facts won't back that up.

And what parent is not standing outside a public restroom, watching, when their little girls go in? In fact, that's the only way to catch any pervert using public restrooms for anything according the bathroom law or not.

There are probably as many men who prey on boys as men who prey on girls. Get data on that, and legislate fairly/consistently.

Men who are transgendering to female are very likely to have heterosexual preferences, meaning, as the see themselves as female, they prefer males as sexual partners. Get the data on that. They are less likely, not more, to target women, let alone little girls. Get the data on that. Neither are they HIGH on the kind of testosterone likely to make men violent and dangerous. That's like banning marijuana and legalizing alcohol.

The trans community lives on a spectrum between "passing" and not passing.

At the very least the passing should get a pass.

It IS POSSIBLE to give legal passes to any trans who would like to apply for one...if this bathroom thing is really a data backed issue.

Take existing institutions for example a college. There can be a voting block that scans a trans' pic, bio, and maybe video, giving a thumbs up or down to a "pass". There can be ways to insure fairness. Doesn't have to be a beauty contest.

Can be done for every public bathroom in the US and every public bathroom can be marked designating it's participation in the program.

Few can argue with a democratic process.

When the anti religious bigots get in charge and start telling you that not everything is black and white and we need to start evaluating things based on the so called facts and evidence, that's when you're in trouble. The nazis used facts and logic to do medical experiments on children, and of course only religious bigots lurking in society could be against such a thing, because everyone knows of the great scientific advancements that could be made from those experiments.

There are always going to be the paul krugmans of the world who can provide evidence and facts for virtually anything they want to do. Even to create mandates that let mentally disturbed men in women's bathrooms.

And then they'll turn right around and create facts for a right to privacy when they want to kill a baby through abortion. The right to privacy doesn't exist in a bathroom, but it does in a doctor's office if you want to kill a baby.

The road to hell is paved with people dreaming up facts.

Wow. If you think that was a good answer you should make an appointment with the transition team to take a ride up the elevator up to Trump's office. See how long you last. But you'd never even get that far.

Fact: this IS hell, where mentally disturbed is the norm.

Be like Pastor Manning and withdraw your support before you ruin Trump's GOP.

Please join Merkel's Christian Democrats instead.
