Looks like North Carolina is about to repeal HB2

This is why my father-in-law gets all of his liquor as moonshine from his buddies at the local lodge and never visits the ABC store. This also explains why moonshine is still such a large business in rural areas of North Carolina.

So maybe they are just protecting local businesses?

The right to freedom of association is written in the constitution.

But the supreme duds decided that:

---well, it doesn't quite mean that sometimes
---and, we think the state has a compelling interest to enforce just the opposite of freedom of association [something that is written nowhere in the constitution]

stick the anti discrimination horse manure where the sun don't shine

You have the freedom to associate with whom you want.

You don't have the right to deny service to particular groups of people as a business based on race, religion, gender, etc.

These are totally separate issues.

Yeah, that's what I said. You pulled it right out of your asshole, just like the supreme court. I explained that. Didn't it get through?

The supreme court said that the naacp's right to freedom of association and related right to privacy meant that they did not have to give up their donor and member list. Because they have the right to freedom of association and related right to privacy.
But, the supreme court then said, in another case, that the KKK must divulge their member and donor list because the state has a compelling interest.......

They just make stuff up as they go along to suit prevailing political opinion.

The state has no damn business telling any private business who they must do business with. It's none of the state's business.

And the dirty little secret is that, once again, they only enforce it when they feel like it. And they only feel like it when it suits the leftist bullshit opinion makers.

Take FUBU, for instance. That stands for For Us, By US. Blacks.
https://thehundreds.com/blog/the-rise-and-fall-of-fubu/
After a sponsor had a little beef with that, they now promote the name as Four Urban Brothers United.

Have any kind of equal protection laws been thrown at them? You should know the answer to that. Anyone can guess the right answer.
I don't want any 'but they'll sell to anyone' nonsense rejoinder thrown at me.
Because there have been numerous instances where they threw the book at white businesses for the very act of a sign, regardless of whether they served all comers or not.

It's all a scam. It's nothing but politics. Nothing else. I can't believe people are so gullible to fall for it.

And since your going to push me on this for all it's worth, I can't fail to mention your role in all this.

You strut around here with this high and mighty 'Discrimination is so wrong!' and never ever would insert yourself into a conversation that criticizes blacks as a group. When it came to trump wanting to limit muslim immigration because of the danger, you had a shitfit about how ignorant he was.

But what about religious right Christians.
You went off on them for talking about passing a law getting rid of the bathroom hand washing law. How ignorant could they be to leave business alone. It's their job to regulate these things.
Then, when they passed h2b, you claimed the religious right people are such hypocrites because they claim to be anti gov't so how could they pass a law. Iow, whether they take their hands off business, or put their hands on business, you never fail to find a reason to give them hell. The only thing in common between them all is that the Christian right did it. And that's the heart of the matter. You detest them, you find whatever reason to rag on them, and be honest. You just plain don't like them at all, do you?
Somehow, it's beyond the pale to find constant reasons to criticize blacks or muslims, you certainly wouldn't want to be associated in any of those discussions, but it's alright for you to do the same to the religious right. No matter what they do or who they nominate, you have some negative reaction to it. You've made it plain. Over and over.
And that's what I take issue with. I'm fed up with the notion that some people are fair game and some people are not. And I don't mind telling anyone to go to hell that tries to enforce that pc bullshit on me.

The left makes this stuff up as it goes along and enforces it not only in the media but in the workplace, and even in the court system.
But when the tables are turned, they couldn't care less about discrimination any more than they care that challenging an election "is a threat to democracy". We see how that worked out when the shoe turned out to be on the other foot.
Given that, there are only two kinds of whites in my book that go along with this nonsense. The kind that are indoctrinated by the propaganda and too ignorant to realize it, and the kind that are scared spitless and have piss running down their leg at the thought of some leftist scam artist calling them a racist or some such term that is considered worse than serial murderer.

And the weak kneed, lilly livered whites compound the whole situation by constantly caving at every opportunity. They passed an ordinace in Charlotte and the right did nothing more than respond to it. Then, when the left decides to escalate, the right caves. It's no different than paying off a kidnapper. They never fail to hold you up for a ransom again and again. What the right should have done when the war escalated against them was to escalate themselves. Because now sane people are assured of getting held up for ransom again by these amoral deviants.

I can just hear the liberals going nuts if Christians mounted a boycott of Charlotte because its ordinance legitimizes perversion.

The problem is the progressive Nazis have intimidated much of corporate and institutional America into supporting its unpopular agenda. The solution is to get a unified front to mount counter boycotts of companies or sports leagues that try to tell us what to do. It will be a slow slog, but progressives didn't get so powerful overnight. Like termites, they wormed their way forward, one battle at a time. Now it's time to show their allies that attacking us involves serious costs.

Living in North Carolina, the intentions of the Republican legislature over the past 273 days since they passed HB2 is pretty clear. As the heat turned up, the more intelligent legislators were looking for some path to escape with some dignity left intact. Most others were looking to find an excuse on why they couldn't rescind HB2 so they could keep it in place - these clowns loudly stated the 'Charlotte city council must drop it's law campaign" - well now it has back-fired on them.

HB2 has been eroded under court decisions, and the entire misguided discriminatory bill would likely to be overturned in federal court before the of 2017 based on rulings in Virginia & other states.

It is interesting that you maintain that "private businesses should be able to conduct business any way they want." This means that you view denying service to black people at a lunch counter in a retail store in Greensboro as perfectly acceptable. I thought our country had moved beyond this and the establishment of civil right protections in private business entities is very clearly established in the United States.

Children who are eight or ten years old cannot see over the front window while reaching the gas pedal. There are rational reasons why they are not allowed to drive until they are older, and none of this is based on discrimination based on race, gender, religion, orientation, etc.

In the same way now IMO, extreme vetting incoming immigrants from countries with terrorism issues is rational and not discriminatory. There is an obvious reason for doing it.

Likewise deporting illegal immigrants from our country is not discriminatory. It is is rational - not obeying the law thereby getting deported is not a form of discrimination. Mexico would deport me very quickly if I did the same thing.

In regards to the protection of children in bathrooms, North Carolina has plenty of existing criminal laws in place to prosecute offenders who assault children in restrooms. In fact well over 90% of bathroom assaults of a minor involve two people of the same gender in our state. Adding a discriminatory HB2 law does nothing further to protect children in restrooms. The entire thing is a meaningless straw-man argument.

And i'll say this once more so that even someone who is very difficult to get through to understands.

A mandate that men use mens bathrooms and women use women's bathrooms being considered unwarranted discrimination is so ridiculous that I really don't know how anyone could be butt stupid enough to say it.

And re: your comment about discrimination in business, a tape was made of people asking muslim bakeries to bake a wedding cake for homosexual weddings and and the muslim bakeries told them to get lost. Did anything happen to them? Of course not.

It's all a scam. When are you going to wake up and smell the coffee that you're being played like a fiddle. Discrimination is only considered wrong around here when Christians do it. All others get a free pass.

Blacks getting their own student union. Blacks demanding their own black dorms.
That's not discrimination?

Throw your dislike of discrimination at someone else, because I see through the bullshit and it doesn't work on me. Maybe it'll work on some other sucker who's path you cross.

gwb-trading also thought it was a great idea for NC to pick winners and losers by favoring the film industry with tax breaks that were not available to other businesses.

Actually the film industry tax credits in North Carolina have been re-instated after the Republican state legislature found the revenue loss to the state tax coffers to be extremely painful to the state budget. They finally bit the bullet... admitted they were idiots and reinstated the film tax credit this past year.

You see driving away 6500 high paying jobs and all of their associated business has a tax impact on the state. Especially since the state legislative leaders eliminated the film tax credit simply because they "disliked Hollywood" rather than for any type of financial reason.

Picking on the film tax credit as an example of "choosing winners and losers" is amusing since the state provides over 300 industries with tax credits for everything from agricultural equipment to pig farms to feed lots to another hundred sectors or so. The tax credit for the film industry is one of the few tax credits that generated economic revenue in the tax coffers that was greater than the amount of the provided tax credit -- the same can't be said for pig farming.
