Where in the hell are getting that from? The only thing I've said in this thread is that a website like ET can't retain a member indefinitely, especially if that member has blown out his account or moved on to other interests. I haven't said anything in this thread about trolls, membership increase, etc.

If you're trying to make a point then just say it and stop with the goofy questions and inferences.

Based on my limited observation after much longer than 20 years on Internet public forums, moderated or unmoderated, I have to say this kind of moderation below, perhaps due to (s)he is young age guy with limited moderation experience on Internet forums, could easily push people away:

It's been my experience, that in the past you've encouraged trolls who repeatedly interrupt trading discussions. I prefer to withdraw from this thread .. thus I'm willing to agree my opinions might not be based on fact, tho to me, it sure seems they are correctly based on the facts as I observed them. But I'm definitely not going to participate in a long drawn out discussion on the subject of trolls.

Tho, to assure you my intentions were to draw attn to and correct what I believe is a flawed policy on trolling I offer the following quotes which in part (along with my experience) caused me to form my opinions.

I know most of the sockpuppets you speak of, and so do many other members. I let the sockpuppets ramble on only because they've been called out and exposed already by other members.

Interacting with those sockpuppets caused me to form the belief they could and should have been shut down much sooner. (i.e. for instance debitspread). Notice, I didn't frame that as a question, tho I think framing it as a question would help you understand the significance of how your membership experienced and continues to experience your inaction on known trolls.

I believe I'm not alone in resenting ET's alignment with marketsurfer, but I've not read his book, so as I stated above, this is only my experience and opinions. I willingly admit, they could be invalid. I accept you might be right to say "highly recommended" in your review of a book written by this sites most notorious troll.

Ok, you're pulling in quotes I made in thread from last year, but whatever. If you believe someone is trolling you excessively, then report the person and Magna will investigate the issue. It's really that simple. Now, with that said, your request for action by Magna could be rejected if he finds that you're just complaining about someone who disagrees with you or has a different point of view than your own. We've found over the years that some members just have a thin skin and think that anyone who disagrees with them is a troll.

In terms of the question about whether truetype is a previously well-known troll, the answer to the question is that I don't know. So my intention was never to make you feel ignored. I just didn't have the "yes" or "no" answer you were looking for.

I understand where you're coming from, but you have to also view it from the perspective of those reading your posts. So for example, if you're not using a real picture of yourself as your avatar, and you never mention your real name, and you don't provide a PnL statement or any other proof that your strategy works, it doesn't really give readers anything tangible to cling on to, so you can't really blame them for being skeptical and critical. So I don't think the problem is with ET as a community. It's more a problem of expecting people to respect you online as a totally anonymous user just like they would if they were sitting with you in person.

Everyone behaves like a troll at some point but you would never believe it of yourself because we value our own egotistical opinion (just like Im doing right now ). Its all just a matter of perspective.
