It's no surprise that they can't take bitcoin since they are a fully regulated MTF under the Financial Conduct Authority's supervision...

I must say that their standard platform seems really "bad" to me..... I'm talking about the Web Platform to LMAX and its ability to display Charts. I couldn't get charts on Chrome, so I switched to Firefox, and even then it was a struggle (I mean a real struggle !) to get a single Chart up. Now, I know they're pushing MultiCharts for users, but when this is compared to, say, the Dukascopy platform, or most platforms, I thought it was seriously bad. They need a downloadable fast standalone platform, IMHO, or something so that we can switch charts, etc. Maybe you know more about what they offer, cuz we're going through the Java API so we couldn't care much about their standard platform, but it seems really really bad to me... Do you know otherwise? Originally I thought Alpha Novae would offer a decently priced platform, but they appear to have moved out of the retail space, and I haven't seen any alternatives for "normal" trade entry. They don't directly support MetaTrader4, so what decent choices are there? HyperScalper

We are planning to connect through the FIX and to maintain our own DB and Javascript charts.

For the front end we've been using MT4 while we get the servers setup... and well... it has very interesting limitations.
 
You should see Hotspot or Currenex charts, they are even worse. Their biggest customers (other MT4 brokers) dont need charts, so they spend their development ressources on other things.

Apart from Multicharts you can also use SierraChart. For SC you need to maintain a fix connection with the associated minimums tho.

I ran across this thing showing MultiCharts integration with LMAX.
(I'm not going to be interested in this, and am not pushing it, but it
looks like a "normal" trader would want to use this for order entry

Good to know you're "serious" about this with FIX. We've done the Java API migration, up to enough capability to evaluate their wholesale liquidity probabilitites. But eventually we'll go FIX. Since we started with a Java base, and have emulated Dukascopy functions ( like IEngine ) on top of multiple LMAX orders, this kept our logic relatively stable. However, workarounds with the Java API (which limitations you would not have with FIX) is that if we get out of synch with the exchange, it's difficult to re-synchronize. I'm going to spawn a separate process and login which should "push" the current LMAX exchange to us, and then through RMI I'll check that our current "view" of the market is synchronized with the LMAX Exchange. So there are a few workarounds with the Java API but it's the best way for us at the moment. FIX will be the future, though, since it doesn't require Cancel/Replace but can do an atomic replace of limit order price, etc. Nice to know there's expertise in this forum just in case... :) HyperScalper

Hey, that's really good to know. Eventually we'll be working well above the FIX requirement but, for now, we just have to evaluate the liquidity and LMAX exchange, which was the original basis of this discussion. Dukascopy couldn't provide us with any route to wholesale pricing power. We have a corporate account, and a trading business in the Dukascopy space, but we're not rich yet !! ;-) HyperScalper
