Liberals - Why do you support Globalism?

you answer about tariffs is too binary. I understand it... but
tariffs can help.

its the value added by the worker and the technology of the country that determines the eventual value in the world market. We don't have to compete on cheap labor if we compete with tech innovation and good labor.

We don't know that if we properly protect our industries americans can't compete.

We have no idea because we don't even know what the Federal Reserve is doing with our money.

They have diluted the dollar 700 percent in 50 years by creating dollars and buying up assets for their cronies all over the world.

If we stopped exporting our companies and our IP and controlled the amount of money we were electronically printing we could probably innovate our way back to the top the the heap.

We would get jobs back and our govt could save billions in handouts.

We might even have a proper single payer health care plan which could get legacy health care costs off our companies and make them even more competitive.

We have have been competing against the world with our hands tied behind our back by govt and the cronies.

everything is correct but

u should keep in mind that by debauching they currency they effectively subsidizing our consumers

and so does the 50 cents per hour wages and no regulations

in effect our workers are just not competitive enough.. with our regulations , and very high minimum salaries etc etc

what to do ? our workers should do something 50 cents workers can not do, and produce something what china can and the rest of the world can not produce (that how it was 50 years ago, but not now)

but that means we have to be much more educated than Chinese and the rest of the world (while in fact its the other way around) and we should be ahead of them in what and how we producing...

its very tall order.. but that the only way to be ahead

tariff will not help

yes they will provide employment at expense of downgrading level of life for all Americans.. its a soviet's way.. it does not work if we lakk about making America great again

its funny that you started with insults and you just don't understand how floating currencies adjust things. You need to learn how to think before you post insults.
You are confused by short run imbalances caused by spikes and the long run benefit of having a strong economy and presumably strong currency.

So, in your parallel universe, a strong US dollar helps US exporters? Seriously?!

Yeah, really.

I've forgotten more about economics than you'll ever know. We were not discussing how floating currencies "adjust things." We were discussing how the relative strength of currencies affect trade balances, subsequent "adjustments" notwithstanding. You screwed up and are looking for a side exit. Like Trump, you have no idea what you're talking about but are never wrong.

its funny arguing with lefties. Where did you learn your econ? venezuela?

you are confusing short run imbalances with the benefit of being a strong economy and the strong currency that goes with it.

Once again... if your currency is strong you use less of it to buy things... and you get more of the other currency when you sell things.

do you understand what that means in terms of an imbalance? Why don't you tell us.

Would you rather pay 1000 dollars for a 100 shoes or 100 dollars? How does the impact the trade balance.

Then look at the other side of the ledger.

you can sell 100 widgets for 1 or 50 widgets for 3 dollars?

You see having a strong currency does not necessarily create a trade imbalance.

very good !

milton speaks from the grave .. and he is still correct :)

I learned a lot from our talks...;) I understood a lot more about the concept of freedom that I hadn't before and expanded even more a lot of the ideas I had about economics, freedom and life in general... And I thank you for that. And if someday you wish to continue those talks, I'll be glad to do it.:)
