The Confederate Flag is a symbol of an unfortunate period in American history. It has no place in current America except among those who long for that time and all of the inequity that it represents. That is not a statement about all Southerners, just about the unacceptability of what now stands for divisiveness and hate. Similarly, I don't think jihadi flags are being tolerated much in America. Am I mistaken? And that would not be a statement about all Muslims, just about that element that stands for divisiveness and hate.

Any compromise on things like "assault" weapons, mag sizes etc, takes us one step closer to their goal. They are never going to say ok, we promise, if you give up these rights that's it, we will never ask for more. We have a very simple and effective solution that will at least stop the problem form getting even worse, and that is to stop the vast majority of muslim immigration. We can make exceptions here and there but certainly no refugee resettlements. No more family unification either. You miss your family? Go back to the old country and join them.
We also need to stop regarding mosques as somehow off limits to law enforcement. Some of them are clearly the key point for radical recruitment. That is a criminal enterprise and should result in the mosque being closed and seized. I'm sure Hillary's Saudi backers will be furious. F them.

perfect example you gave. The right to operate a car is only bestowed on those who pass a driving test, verbal and practical. And if they are caught driving illegally, drunk, texting, speeding, then steep fines are imposed. Can all accidents that may lead up to deaths be avoided? Certainly not, but still everyone gets to drive around relatively freely. Now, if the same screening and examination could be applied to anyone wanting to purchase a new firearm then we would already have made tremendous progress.

I think the main problem is criminals/gangs, most of them black and Hispanic, using these weapons, and Muslim terrorists and our cowardly approach to dealing with the problem. Add up all the people killed by some crazy white guy with a gun doesn't even make a weekend of killing in Chicago. You want to focus on the what. I want to focus on the who. Thugs, gangs, criminals and apparent leftist don't like profiling. Profiling works, which is why they don't like it.

Anyway, we are addressing one specific issue, terrorism, more accurately islamic terrorism which, unlike demented individual cases like the Charleston shooter, is a worldwide phenomenon that is supported by large scale terror groups and widely approved of by muslims in general.
The AR15 style rifle is the single most popular weapon sold in the Untied States. It is hard to argue that it is not considered the mainstream home defense weapon. Functionally it is identical to a semi auto hunting rifle. Banning them would be denying law-abiding citizens the most effective defense weapon available to them. Rather than undermine the Second Amendment, there are less restrictive methods of limiting terrorism. Severely curtailing muslim immigration is the most obvious.
