So if you were an administrator at a university 40 years ago where one of the yearbooks had a blackface photo then is this enough to have you removed from office?

So if you were in a 35 year old photo not in blackface at a party but other people in the photo are in blackface then is this enough to have you removed from office.?

So if your spouse appeared in a 30 year old photo in blackface then is this enough to have you removed from office?

All of the above are current situations where mob is in a frenzy to have these people removed from office.
 
I agree that being in the vicinity of something does not mean you should be fired. I am not defending those. It seemed you were also objecting in situations where the person themselves did it.

Well that is an interesting example because the sitcom had an intelligent way of denoucning the racism of Archie without beating you over the head with it. Despite all his racist talk and scenerios, when he was ever confronted with it, he was forced to face how wrong his thinking was. You see it in the interactions with the Jeffersons when they moved next door and with some latin story lines. Definitely with respect to women. Edith was a "dingbat" but in the end was always smarter than Archie.

Meathead was the overbearing liberal calling everything wrong and it was exaggerated to show how ridiculuos it was and his behavior was tempered by Archie (just like Archie's behavior eas tempered by Mike at times). When Archie was every fully confronted on his views of women or other races or sometimes narrow minded views, he always made the right decision with his heart.

The sitcome was far more intelligent than people gave it credit for. I loved watching it growing up and was not until I was older seeing it did I realize it was not just making fun of people and showing Archie's behavior was acceptable because he was likable. It was his flaw but in the end his good heart always prevailed and his love for his family.

The real joke was the Archie v. Michael arguments - making fun of the overly conservative bigot v. the liberal supposedly educated young one and making fun of the sterotypes of people who make fun of others.

I dressed up as an Indian quite a few times when I was younger. I guess that makes me qualified to be the dem nominee.

I dont think dressing up in an Indian costume is any different than dressing up as any character, 99% of the people who did that did not put red paint all over their face.

I know I did. Maybe not all over, so maybe I am just on probation.

We used to try to "talk Indian" too and that was not pretty. Especially when you are barely old enough to speak any language. And on alternate days when I was a Cowboy, I had six shooter cap pistols on each hip. Not good there either.

I should be right in the slam next to Paul Mannafort.
