Less than 50% of U.S. troops believe Afghanistan war is winnable

The Military Times survey found less than half of serving soldiers believe the U.S. is 'very likely' or 'somewhat likely' to succeed in Afghanistan.

The number is down from 2007, when more than 75 percent of those polled said the U.S. was 'very likely' or 'somewhat likely' to succeed.

No, I'm not. I'd like to know if they gave the survey participants any clarity on what "win" means, so that everyone is answering the same question. Otherwise, the data is worse than useless.

The advocates of the Afghanistan war can't even define what "win" means in that context. So of course the war isn't winnable.

The War on Terror isn't the sort of thing you can win. (When we we ever say that Terror was defeated?) The whole point of the War on Terror is to have to the perfect excuse for an ever larger police state at home and ever more military spending abroad.
