Legality of Healthcare

Quote from Scataphagos:

Geez... it's not like some potentate gathered all the people around and decreed, "you get the good, well paying job... and you get the low paying job".

People who "have much" for the most part EARNED/INHERITED IT. People who "work their asses off for too little pay" made poor choices (less financially rewarding) early in their working career. Anybody who wants "more" can have more... by working differently... smarter...

Give me a break. You've got a lot of lying, cheating, assholes at the top that have fucked over people their entire lives. Most have had advantages that others have not.

Anybody working 8 hours a day deserves to earn a decent living and to have a say so in government.

Didn't your parents teach you anything?

Yes, they taught me personal responsibility for my life and that poverty sucks.

Now feel free to answer my question:
So are you a "have too much" or a "haven't a pot to piss in" ?

"... Anybody working 8 hours a day deserves to earn a decent living and to have a say so in government.

People "deserve" what they earn for themselves. A PRIMARY factor in America's economic power was the development of a large and affluent middle class. But a prime FACTOR in that occurring was a lack of competition. Now there are 300-500 Million Chindians who are happy to work for $5 per day, and they are competing for our once well-paying jobs. Therefore, America's middle class, as we've known it WILL NEVER RETURN.. and we have to "adjust down to it". I know, that sucks. But it's reality.

As for "anybody having a say in government"... I'm not as convinced of that now as I was when younger. It's immoral and wrong that 50% of the population pays ZERO federal income tax, yet they can "vote" for the other tax-paying 50% to have their assets confiscated and paid to the have-nots. Just plain WRONG!

You won't find much sympathy from me for the "works hard, but still a have not" crowd. I once had a job as a janitor. Always thinking, "this job sucks.... I need to do something different and make some money". Pardon me if I'm also thinking, "If I could do it, anybody else should be able, too".

Now you see that is just bone headed thinking with respect to our current unfettered federal govt.

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine. -Thomas Jefferson

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the Public Treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits from the Public Treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy always followed by dictatorship."

Alexander Fraser Tyler, "The Decline and Fall of the Athenian Republic"

True, but it doesn't stop anyone else from earning more money in a better paying job or starting their own business.

Quote from 377OHMS:

That is interesting.

If I could institute 3 reforms they would be:

1) 4-year term limits in Congress

2) 8-year term limits for Supreme Court Justices

3) Property ownership a prerequisite for voting priviledges

Personally I think that only landowners should be allowed to vote. That way many of the apartment dwelling black-dressing left wing liberals with zero stake in the game would be prevented from destroying what the rest of us fought for and work for. The rich liberals are a different problem.

I have no trouble paying taxes to cover people medically from birth to 18years. I have no trouble paying taxs to cover people from 65 years to death. I have no trouble paying taxs to cover disabled persons and *all* veterans.

I will be damned, however, before I will pay for medical coverage for able bodied citizens between 18 and 65. Not a God damned cent. I would sooner spend that money on ammunition if it came to it.

Great post(s). Disagree with your 3rd point though, anyone who pays federal taxes has the right to vote. Otherwise why should they bother?

Come to think of it... and other than the 30-days leave all military personnel get per year....

I NEVER...

1. Got a "paid vacation"
2. Got "benefits" of employer-paid health insurance
3. Had money put into a retirement plan for me
4. Got a paid "sick day"

I did, however, always pay BOTH the employee's AND Company's part of Social Security and Medicare taxes.

Yeah, that sucks... nobody ever "handed me anything". Didn't expect them to. Didn't ask them to.

Quote from 377OHMS:

What is broken is the intellect of all the people like you that voted this lout into office. When the intelligence of the general US population has degraded to the point where they would elect a narcissist first term senator with a dubious chicago community organizer background to the office of president its time for many of us to reevaluate our relationship with our country.

I too will opt out of healthcare "reform". And never again will I view my fellow citizens as being capable of rational decisions. Nearly all of you have been catagorized in my mind as dolts and the result is that I will no longer sit on the sidelines but will contribute money and time to support those candidates who share my own conservative political views. I rather think you are going to see alot of this.

I think you should REALLY show your commitment and MOVE out of the country. You can go to some 3rd world nation where, like you, they believe that the wealthy are the ones worthy of participating in gov't.

Take Index Piker with you. He also has no sense of history, morality, or love for democracy.

You need be better educated as to what type of Country this is and what made it great.
