"Everbody" can't afford that luxury. In fact, most can't. What about them? Just their bad luck for being poor, right?

I'm referring to the current system that does rely very much on employer-based insurance. If every employer in US removed this benefit I guarantee that universal, single-payer reform would pass immediately.
I don't know if it is included in the current bill but, throughout the process it has been mentioned that employers would be 'fined' for not providing insurance. I totally disagree with this requirement.
In reference to your previous post about taxes. Everybody pays increased taxes and everybody gets coverage. Nobody is getting anything for 'nothing' except those who don't make enough money to pay taxes. Guess what- we already pay for their medical care so nothing will change under my plan.

Man I don't know what's wrong with me, but I keep thinking that the people aren't taxed too little; the government spends too much. Maybe I should have never listened to that, what was his name in the 80's? Ronald somebody?
No, I just got some really weird ideas, huh? Like, for example, I think we could save, hmmm just a little dough if we cut out some of our misadventures in human behavior.
Oh like, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, looking for ET (aka NASA), government contract corruption, unnecessary prison facilities, excessive government employment, overpaid government bureaucrats, military operations all over the planet, excessive foreign aid to our "friends", studies on sex habits of rabbits, etc., etc.
Think any control in government spending would have provided health care for any Americans down through all these years?

I don't know if it is tax neutral or not. I don't care whether it is tax neutral or not. I suspect that when all is said and done it is very possible that our total health care costs will decrease. At least to the level that other countries have with all of their citizens covered. Doesn't really matter: if we have to raise tax rates to pay for the program so be it. Obviously, the more you make the more you'll pay. That's the social cost of earning money. I suspect there are few on ET that are going to be paying higher rates than I will be.
