Well, I believe they did match his forward speed (as close as they could) -- they both began accelerating at the same time and once Jamie got to takeoff speed, he held it at that speed.
In the end of course doesn't matter whether Jamie accelerated faster or slower than the plane accelerated(couldn't tell from the video), the end result was going to be just the same.

Again, it seem to me that without some sort of computer interconnect and automatic speed control, they did a pretty *good* job of matching.
I'd a like to have seem more of an interview with that stunned pilot after he took off just like normal. They should have had him miked up during the event.
