Latest health care bill collapses after defections of two more Senators

Democrats trying to make hay out of this but what happens when they're in charge?

Gov Jerry Brown in Ca has campaigned for single payer since 1992. The Ca dem party ran on single payer in Ca if they were elected. They won a supermajority and they can do anything they want. Unstoppable.

So what did they do. They put together a single payer bill and the House Assembly Speaker pulled it so it couldn't get a vote in order to save Gov Jerry Brown from being profusely embarrassed for vetoing the issue that he had campaigned on for twenty five years.

How embarrassing for the democrats.

Control of all three branches and can't pass a bill.... Winning

What happened to the art of the deal?

We have to make it "look" like we are trying to save healthcare first, so we don't totally look like the bad guys when we completely repeal it. Gives us an excuse when democrats scream "You took away our health insurance!" that we can reply "We TRIED to replace it, but you wouldn't work with us"

Win/win for us. Getting it repealed and hope there is no replacement later.

are they going to end the filibuster ?

They need 60 votes for total repeal. You think they are going to end the filibuster ?

Trump is urging them to go "full nuclear" -- however I don't think the Senate will end the filibuster.

As noted in the article McConnell is going to push a repeal that has been voted on before and passed by Republicans under Obama. This is a repeal, not a full repeal. McConnell's intent is to be sure that every Republican backs this repeal; those who do not can be knocked as flip-floppers because they voted "yes" previously.

However it still appears that this repeal will not pass, at which point McConnell can plan the next step -- either dropping healthcare for this session or working with Democrats.

I used to think Democrats were stupid until I met a modern day Republican.

Maybe you could have done this in the first year or two, but after 6-7 years, It's beyond stupid to think you can take back pre-exisiting conditions. And cutting medicaid? With an aging population? Right, really good idea there. Oh yeah, let's leave all the Obamcare tax increase in there.

I swear to God, this has to be the dumbest Congress in at least a generation.
