So you are going to ignore what a professional in the field is saying and go on what...your gut? Seriously Nitro, I'm not trying to be a dick but this is a serious flaw in your character. I think you are a very bright guy in many areas but you seem to think that gives you a license to act as if you are an expert in everything from policies in the middle east to the workings of a nuclear reactor. I have no desire to argue this with you any further. I will admit I have no knowledge in this area so I will defer to what these experts say and Sjogen is one of them. I'll take his knowledge over that of the New York Times or a reporter who also doesn't know shit about this as well.

Nitro, I don't care where the Nikkei opens. My concern is for the people of Japan and for the families they have over here that read this shit. A bunch a guys on a message board giving advice on nuclear reactors. The situation is being contained. Japan is going to have a million other problems, but the reactors are being contained and any meltdown that happens will likely be contained as well. I really don't think Japanese Americans that still have family over there care where the Nikkei opens. And I seriously don't think you care where the Nikkei opens so I'm not sure why that is even in this conversation.

Well, your values are in the right place. My concern for the people is no less. But I can chew gum and walk at the same time, so I conjecture how the market will react.

One tragedy that will likely come from this are all the fools that will use this to point out as to the dangers in nuclear power, and to shill more fossil fuel usage instead.

What people should take from the tragedy it is to study how to defend the power plants from even more devastating disasters, not turn their backs on the technology.

I would think forex would give one a clue as to direction of the Nikkei. Also, I expect the bank of Japan will protect the currency if the USD/YEN pair trades anywhere near 80. I have a low of 80.24 on the pair from last November. I am keeping the Japanese people in my prayers as well. :)

So far very little movement in currencies. Pretty calm actually. USD/JPY gapped down a little and is now rallying. About 81.72 right now. EUR/USD gapped up a little. Only trading up about 50 pips and now selling off. I really don't expect much volatility out of this event as so far seen in the FX market.
