If the FED announces the $2T QE GS says it will, we will have a +4% up move tomorrow and probably see 1300 by YE. What is priced in at this point? Imo even more than $500B, probably closer to $750B.
There is no way that the people that say it would be bad for the market are right. Sure it may be bad long term, but where the F**ck do they think that money will end up? I am not even convinced it would be bad long term, _for_wall_street_. Look how fast and easily the last TARP was payed. Granted, that was low hanging fruit...
Thing is, this is not a liquidity issue in _main_street_ America. It is structural imo, and far far worse than anyone is willing to admit. Initially, there would probably be some trickle down effect from the people who already have jobs 401K going higher (these QE directly only help people that __already__ have jobs.) But then what? All it does is push the problem further out.
Who knows, it could work if we get lucky. What if someone invents the equivalent of what the car or semi-conductors is to the economy today?
