I guess they would have used this same technique on all the trump appeals court nominees and on Gorsuch if they'd only thought of it, huh. It was so easy with Ford, they didn't even have to recruit her. She just wrote in asking if she could try out for the part. If it is that easy, there must be hundreds of well educated, highly accomplished women out there willing to step up and "lie."

Good observation. There is no more "establishment" candidate possible than Kavanaugh. When you consider Kavanaugh's unpopularity*, and add to it the absurdity of the Senate Majority Leader, "Mr. Establishment" in the flesh, guaranteeing on National TV that Kavanaugh will be on the Court before the hearing has concluded, it naturally raises the question, "How does McConnell know he'll be confirmed?" Could it be that the hearing is just a sham? Then you have these crackpot conspiracy guys and anti-establishment tea party folks falling over themselves to, as you say, "gloat over a Bush lackey!" That can only reinforce my dim view of their reasoning ability.

Thus, I suppose, the necessity of a sham hearing, and all the underhanded shit the Republicans have pulled such as trying to keep Kavanaugh's record from his Bush/Cheney years out of public view, and giving the Judiciary committee no time to read the documents re the candidates judicial record. And somehow , after all this, Kavanaugh is the conspiracy guys' answer to "the deep state!" What the hell? Where is the consistency in their protestations? Is there anything between their ears other than a vacuum?
