Katie Couric Sarah Palin Interview

Quote from Allen3:

Shhh! Your going to give away the big ending. :D

Wanna bet we just shut the mouths of all these inane douchebags who had no clue about Lincoln and the lengths an Obama may go to suspend States rights? :p

Don't be a fool! With all due respect this is about my country and my family and my son!

I look around and I see what's going on. A war we shouldn't be in that I'd never let my son fight in, a financial disaster that I had nothing to do with, the rich getting richer, health care way too expensive. Get these thugs out of office and start fresh. Obama may not be perfect, but it's the best choice I've got.

Don't assume that all Obama supporters are Dems and Liberals. Some are conservative in the tradition sense of the work. Smart and responsible.

Voting needs to be based on the philosophy of the candidate or party and not the personality.

Democrats believe all money goes Federal then they decide where it goes.Republicans believe monies are best staying local.

Obama will cost each successful trader at least $50,000 over the next 4 years.
Just think if all these traders pooled their 50K and went to the Pacific gardens or Little brothers of the poor we could end hunger in Chicago for many years.

If all that money goes to Washington does anyone think any difference will be made with hunger

50K just to feel good about electing a black man. if you want that good feeling I recommend going to lower Wacker and hand out 100's to our brethren in cardboard boxes.

These Republicans believe in spent, spend, spend, socialize everything, except the health care we need. Make the rich richer, let the poor suffer and cause trouble in the Middle East to protect oil. They're thugs and don't believe in the philosophy you're looking for.

Pabst Prime,

Even though I disagree with you, I want you to know that my posts about the dummies don't apply to you. I read your posts on this forum.

I know I can't change your mind about Obama, but I can't believe your rationalization of Palin. I tried to accept her, but I can't. It showed me that McCain is a panicky, jittery, political animal, who's running scared. I'm off the Rep side for this cycle.

Anyway, let's agree to disagree, but a I agree with a lot of your points.

My Mom's, ninety years old, main goal is to get CA to secede from the nation. CA gives the feds so much cash and gets NOTHING in return. Or, just a small fraction of what it gives. And the infrastructer is falling apart. Like me, she has no party affiliation, but wants out with the thugs.

Anyway, keep up the educational posts. Maybe, McCain will do one more panicky thing and you might change your mind!

Also, thanks to the poster who did the research to show that Obama's tax plan benefits the middle class while McCain does more of the same. Make the rich, richer. Who would have ever thought that poor white people in Southeast Ohio, Kentucky, W.V., etc., who decide the election would vote to have their last dollars taken from them and given to the wealthiest people in the country?

So you're ok with Obama drafting your son to fight in Pakistan? How do you think the Democrats are going to put the 25% of unemployed minority youth to work? Via the military. Bank on it.

a financial disaster that I had nothing to do with, the rich getting richer,

The gap between rich and poor has COLLAPSED in the past year. Big time.

health care way too expensive.

So do you think doctors should work for less? Should labs charge less? Are you willing to cut YOUR income? I happen to think health insurance is TOO CHEAP given the risk of premium holders being a coronary away from costing their insurer a half million. That's why housing is readjusting in value. We MIS VALUED essentials vs. assets. Funny but people recoil at $4 gas but just assume that several hundred dollars a square foot for housing is hunky-dory. Energy and insurance will eat up more of your paycheck while assets will cost less. It's called market economics. Read a book.

Get these thugs out of office and start fresh. Obama may not be perfect, but it's the best choice I've got.

Obama is already IN OFFICE. What's he done? Where's Obama on the bailout? Did Obama every try to stop war funding on the Senate floor? He picked a Veep who voted for the war and it's Obama endorsing U.S. air strikes within nuke owning Pakistan. You better get a clue vingbel. The race in life goes to the swift not the ignorant.

Don't assume that all Obama supporters are Dem's and Liberals. Some are conservative in the tradition sense of the work. Smart and responsible.

No doubt. The same way Hitler and Castro were elected on the backs of a frustrated middle-class. The bane of man is the repeat of mistakes made by mankind.....

P.S. I hope the Obamaites are aware that it's HIS supporters who're favoring this bailout.

Please. I've yet to see you say anything intelligent, and I don't expect you to.

Vin no ones FEDERAL plan will ever help us. We need states rights. Palin is not a rocket scientist. By any means. BUT she's the first populist since Reagan to recognize that this is OVER on the D.C. level. Obama is TOO MAINSTREAM for me. I'm tired of word warriors. I want BOMB THROWERS.

Your mom sounds like one great gal. God bless her!

Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:

Lincoln launched the single worst assault on the Constitution in U.S. history. Protest of the Civil War was punishable by arrest.

The actual right of habeas corpus is not stated anywhere in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. The authors of these documents apparently believed that habeas corpus was such a fundamental liberty that it needed no further guarantee in writing. The only mention of the writ of habeas corpus in the Constitution relates to when it can be taken away from judges. In a section limiting the powers of Congress (Art. I, Sec. 9), the Constitution states: "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in causes of rebellion or invasion of the public safety may require it."

This suspension clause was never activated through the terms of the first 15 presidents. Then during the Civil War, President Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus without consulting Congress. In doing so, Lincoln enabled the military to arrest and imprison thousands of civilians, including Clement L. Vallandigham.

Lincolns first order suspending the writ of liberty applied only to Maryland, a border state sympathetic to the South that virtually surrounded Washington, D.C. Shortly after, Lincoln issued this suspension order, Union troops arrested a Maryland man for helping to organize a pro-Confederate militia. Following his arrest, he was imprisoned at Fort McHenry. Trying to gain his freedom, the prisoner appealed to a federal court in Baltimore for a writ of habeas corpus. But when a federal judge issued the writ, the military officers at Fort McHenry refused to obey it. They said Lincolns suspension order made the writ worthless.

On September 24, 1862, Lincoln issued a proclamation unprecedented in American history. He suspended the writ of liberty everywhere in the United States. The suspension applied to Confederate spies or to those who aided the rebel cause, interfered with military enlistments, resisted the draft, or were "guilty of any disloyal practice." This last offense allowed the military to arrest newspaper editors and speakers critical of the Union war effort. Lincoln further ordered that persons arrested under his proclamation were subject to martial law, which meant they would be tried and punished by military courts.

Not sure what your point is here. That Lincoln violated Habeas corpus? You think Washington didn't do the same thing during the revolutionary war? The United States as we know it wouldn't exist if it wasn't for men like them. What did you think they were benevolent, understanding men? No. Things aren't black and white, right and wrong. They did what they did and now the US is the worlds only superpower. Once again, whats your point?

I live my trading life ahead of the curve. Federal budgets are unsustainable. Why, isn't there plenty of money? No. There's not enough money for taxpayers to absorb rising LOCAL costs for education, police and underfunded pensions and then to simultaneously service increased Federal obligations.

Our country needs money. Agreed.

you can only raise sales taxes and cigarette taxes and property taxes and utility taxes and licenses and fees so much before you tap every last dollar of taxpayer elasticity.

OK, who is trying to raise all those taxes? Not Obama. I don't know why I can't get this through to you OBAMA IS PUSHING FOR TAX BREAK FOR 95% OF THE COUNTRY. THE VERY PEOPLE YOU ARE DEFENDING

Any idea how decreasing property values are impacting municipalities as they reassess property taxes lower? It's a HUGE problem. Cities are broke and states-many of whom have laws restricting the issuance of debt-are struggling for revenue sources. Meanwhile the Democrat's plan to raise FEDERAL taxes. Learn how to build a bomb guys....

Agreed, lower property values hurt everyone. I've explained to you before, you seem to think that housing prices go up and down and wall street reacts to them. No. Everything is connected. Less regulation=companies ultra leveraged buying up all debt=lax lending requirements=more houses built=more houses sold=housing bubble. Its not hard to understand. Now because of LESS REGULATION (small federal government) housing prices are falling like a rock and need to be reassessed.

Let me ask you an honest question, 2 years ago if some democrats in the senate proposed a bill that called for 100 million to pay for regulating financial markets, what would you have said? You an I both know what you would have said. It's that attitude that got us into this mess.

First you talk about how bad our country needs money then you balk at the idea of raising any kind of taxes. Poof! Money from nowhere aye?

I'm not sure what taxes you are talking about but Obama's plan is the only one that makes any sense.

We agree on 2 major points. We need money. The average taxpayer has no money.

What to do then? Well we could raise taxes on the very wealthy to boost revenue and we could cut taxes on the vast majority of everyone else, because they are the ones hurting and they have no damn money to give. Crazy talk i guess....

Quote from Allen3:

Hold on. Using that haughty tone you seem to think you've proven you are actually a successful trader. From what I've seen you mostly hang around making several thousand of posts and demonstrate an astounding lack of understanding of the general economy and the ramifications of political decisions of the past on the present and future. You can try to look down on me for needing to build capital on a longer term basis, but don't think running me down gives you cachet on an anonymous message board. I thought being honest about things showed character, but you do think Obama isn't lying his ass off and has character, so I suppose I shouldn't expect much from you.

I really hope you have made it you've been at it a long time as well.

JIM

MandelbrotSet has no credibility as a real trader. When you pull down figures like $130.00, $138.50, and $162.50 per day, attacking another trader's skill is the "pot calling the kettle black." Take EVERYTHING he says with a grain of salt.
