Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:
Anyone who's been around knows that a Democrat President+Democrat Congress equals higher taxes for more than 5% of America. In other words: Obama is lying his ass off to get elected. Tell me this: 40% of American workers ALREADY don't pay Federal taxes. How is a tax CUT for them even possible.
Ok so let me get this straight you agree with Obama's plan to cut taxes, but you just don't think he can do it? Fair enough.
You're anti-free market and class warfare views are the anithesis of what once made America great. You're a friggin' socialist. How is your desire to engineer housing prices any different than price fixing labor markets? People who are renting or short a house have a RIGHT to buy on declines.
Ahhh see here is the difference between you and I. People like you for whatever reason don't seem to realize that the country and the world is changing every second of every day. You adopt one set of ideals and you promote them NO MATTER what the environment. I don't. I believe that the free market functions best with the least amount of regulation possible. I think america is great because of its innovative spirit, which regulation, by definition, opposes. However I realize that the hands-off approach works best for a TIME period until things get out of control as they CLEARLY have. At that time and AT THAT TIME only the government has to step in to rein in these out of control companies. After that the companies wll balk a bit, but years later they will be flourishing again and after that they will exploit the inevitable loopholes until things come crashing down, then the fed steps back in and so on and so forth. Yes free markets make our country great, yes the governments best place to be is on the sidelines, but unfortunately the federal government DOES HAVE ITS PLACE. For some reason people like you lack the ability to see the bigger picture. I understand and respect your point of view just like I understand Jefferson's, but I also understand Hamilton's. I realize that the reason there are state governments and federal governments, the reason the jefferson v hamilton debates never had a clear winner is because THERE IS NO CLEAR WINNER. Both are needed for a functioning society. Yet you cannot see this. You would rather play your part in the debate blindly without realizing the bigger picture: that its the compromise that keeps us from falling into tyranny or anarchy. Don't be a lemming.
My house has lost more in value than you're worth. Do I bitch? I could give two fucks. Markets are cyclical.
I built my 2nd house and its lost over 300k in value. Markets are cyclical for the reasons I stated above. What were YOU doing at 21?
I'm not going to work ONE ADDITIONAL DAY for the Federal government. I can't morally do it. Most of us can set up an offshore LLC-we'd gladly pay taxes on repatriated salary-and let the balance grow just as if it were domiciled in an IRA. I'll speak on behalf of the trading community to Big Brother:We pay you out of our charitable hearts.
Well thats nice of you. Unfortunately "charitable hearts" cannot be trusted to simply pay. everybody knows this. I can see it now "no more taxes! everyone just please be sure to give us some money"...that would work...
Obama's plan makes NO SENSE. Any plan that raises Federal taxes, Federal expenditures, Federal entitlements and Federal obligations is a horse shit plan that's last century.
Oh so now the plan makes no sense as opposed to you simply not believing he can do it...ok Do you not realize that things cost money? Everything that the government does, has to be paid for. Whether you like what they have done or you don't isn't the issue. The fact is that we now have a $10 trillion national debt. Once again, it doesn't matter whether you agree with the war in iraq (where a lot of it has been spent) or not. Its there and no matter how much you bitch its still going to be there. We have to start paying it down. I would love for increased revenue from a booming economy to pay for it, but thats obviously not happening. So yes we would like to raise taxes on the top 5% because they are theones who have the money. They have reaped the benefits of paying lower taxes and now we need them to pay a little more. Obama's proposal is still less tax on the rich than there was in the 90s. Yet you think its going to bring the whole country down. I prefer not owing trillions to foreign countries like China and Saudia Arabia. Maybe you like sticking your kids with the bill. I for one would like to start paying for that now and also for millions of other things we have to pay for.
