I found his book worthless. It was all mostly filler of page after page of the same style of trades. Nothing in the books helps anyone develop as a trader, it's just pre-made strategies that probably would have killed you in the past couple of months.

Nearly all the strategies are indicator based and could be very easily (or already are) programmed into the most basic of automated trading systems like TD Ameritrade's Stategy Desk. So you have to wonder why he even bothers doing it himself.

The book reminds me of a motivational book. Just something about him and his writing style reminds me of the overly optimistic and enthusiastic self-help book seller who preach the secrets of success, though failing to mention their success came by selling books and classes on how to be successful.

I am starting to lose respect for both of those guys. They seem to want to pimp out anyone. First Carolyn Borden ( decent in her own right ) now John Clayburg ( not impressed at all ) and now Harry Dent ( permabear ). Are the going to start getting referring ppl to Esignal next cmon!:eek:

Having read Carter's book, I agree with the general tenor of the last several comments. Certainly he has cherry picked examples and the book includes some obvious promotional stuff. Nevertheless i think it is a good, clearly written book for a beginner to read, but one will lose one's shirt if you try to trade his set-ups using is recommended entries, targets, and stops, in the present market. So in that sense the book is a little dangerous for beginners.

Here is another book, however, that i can highly recommend. And that is Thomas Carr's "Trend Trading for a Living". When I first opened this book I have to say my first reaction was O'Boy i've made a big mistake to buy this book. It is going to be way too elementary and just a re-hash of stuff that you can find in a thousand other places. I was wrong however. It turns out that this is one of the best written books on trading that i have read, and i have read many. It is extremely clear, and most important of all, it is correct. Carr's straightforward rules for trading Options for example are the clearest I have ever seen on paper. This would be a great beginners book, but even an old hand can benefit from it. I did.

Shill post? Most of the five star reviews are VERY suspicious IMO, as is the above post - some key "tells' IMO. Are you the Doctor himself perchance?
