It is not up to the President so this is all really bullshit. Lot of schools already open and in other states it is the local BoE or Governor making the decision. It is not a federally controlled issue.

It is up to the federal HHS & CDC to establish the national standards schools must follow to open safely.
Biden has been promoting getting all the schools open in his first 100 days and many Democrats are now pushing this mantra including Gov. Cooper in my state of North Carolina.
I don't see how the N.Y. Post is promoting that Biden does not want to open schools.
CDC already did.... also large school districts in several states are already open. Many private schools have been hybrid since October.
THE ONLY REASON ANY PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE STILL CLOSED is because of the teacher's union or local school board officials. NOTHING TO DO WITH FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OR ANY PRESIDENT.

The clown campaigned on a platform of opening America up again and using the power of the presidency- both constitutionally- and as a bully pulpit to get everyone on the same page.

The CDC still has not released their plan to safely open schools and advised that all school systems must follow it. This is Step 1 in safely opening schools across the country.
Trump earlier nixed the proposed CDC plans as "too tough" and did everything possible to undermine the steps outlined in the plan. Due to this school systems all went in their own direction - some taking no safety measures at all.
At this point we should turn to the example of K-12 schools this fall in Europe which all safely opened by following strict national protocols for distancing, masks, and cleaning. Schools in Europe only closed (went remote) in December/January after the community spread of COVID went above safe levels (positive test rate above 5%) for keeping schools open.

All the school districts around me are making decisions at the BoE and union level. Trump or Joe never had a say.

Private schools are open in many areas around the country with minimal issues. Public schools in my area are still virtual BECAUSE OF BoE AND UNION disagreements, none of them ever talk about trump or joe....
It is a State issue, which is why states have different levels of open schools and private schools are following CDC protocols since October.
