Jobless Americans Are The 'Most Comfortable' In 7 Years

What line? I could go into Walmart and get an application, fill it out in 10 min and drop it off.

As for "very few" getting a walmart paycheck, how would you know? Do you have some statistics showing that?
yes, they have been grilled pretty closely. They have paid numerous fines for the illegals working for their contractors.

And no, when the applications were being accepted, the store was not even opened yet, so you had to stand in line for hours. Like I said, it was a new store.

Walmart uses e verify. That keeps most illegals out. Obviously, there are always some clever individuals that can scam the system. But it's not the majority. More like an insignificant minority.

Whether the illegal parents can get cards in their names is irrelevant. All one needs is the card and the PIN in order to be able to use it. So to claim that one can't get "food stamps" for oneself if one's legal children qualify for them is at best disingenuous.

Those who carp about your comments just don't know how welfare works in reality.
what I meant was, I don't know for sure if the benefits are just based on the legal children or are based on the size of the family. But you are correct the card will be in the legal guardians name and mailed to the legal guardians address. I don't think anybody fully expects a child to do their own grocery shopping.

Not talking only about illegals with children. Plenty of fraud without kids - as has been posted.

As for the Libertarian position on immigration, it's about removing the reasons why illegals come here (welfare and benefits), and then having an open border.
if your credit card was hacked, and the perpetrator was an illegal alien, would you claim credit card fraud is an illegal alien problem?

and as for the libertarian position on immigration, time, energy and money would be much better spent trying to figure out how to open the border. If that involves reforming or eliminating social programs so be it.

I understand. My point was whether or not the parent is illegal and the children aren't is irrelevant in reality. It isn't as if the kids are going to go grocery shopping on their own (as you say), then stash the groceries somewhere so that their parents can't get access, risking a beating so that their parents can find this secret hiding place.

I hear ya, and this thread was supposed to be about how creamy the unemployed have it these days. But as soon as I mentioned it's still not that easy to go out and get a job, somebody claimed it was because all the people in line waiting to get a job were illegal. And that somebody seems to have no idea what e verify is.

The pathetic thing is, at my local Walmart, many of the men working there had very decent jobs in the local industry before it dried up.

Or else they're shiftless (no pun intended).

Recent pictures of the jobless and poor don't show too many who look comfortable. But "comfortable" is subjective, I suppose.

my guess is many of them are just burning up their life savings, cashing in their IRA and 401k and just hoping they can live on food stamps and help from their family until they hit 62 years of age and can get social security. There are some jobs out there that always have openings, but many of them are just too physically demanding for anyone over 50. So this guy who says, "Just go get a job" is not really living in American reality. My local C store hires quite often and half the employees are working at 100% of their mental capacity, and the other half are so over qualified it is quite sad.

Obama failed e-verify. Did you know that?
yes, many companies in the southwest rely on illegals to survive. But large companies like Walmart either use it voluntarily or because the state where they are domiciled requires it. I'm not sure if Arkansas (where Walmart is domiciled) is a mandatory state or they just do it voluntarily.

But yes, many business owners especially in the southwest put a lot of pressure on their local governments to defeat e verify, claiming it would ruin their business.
