Job Fight: Immigrants vs. Locals

Quote from volente_00: You live in a screwed up state if your insurance is $120 a month for just liability and you are 24 years old. Maybe you are overpaying for it too.
Seriously somebody needs to wake you up. We’re not in 1970 anymore. I pay $1228 a year for car insurance. That is an incredible deal for a 24 year old. I used to pay over $3000. Again I challenge you to find another 24 year old who pays less. Not some generic quote, a real person. I know Forextrades is about my age. I wonder what he pays. Oh and I have a perfect 3 year driving record.
Quote from volente_00: $3000 in repairs ? What kind of vehicle ? Get yourself a honda or toyota and you won't spend near that.
I have a Toyota. What’s this facsination with them. Like they’re some mystical wonder that never needs repairs. You think a Toyota doesn’t need tires or brakes? I had to get a water pump and timing belt a few months ago because it wouldn’t start. Then after it was done, they didn’t tell me that frequently the seals or something leak oil afterwards (this is a different mechanic now). So to avoid from leaking a gallon of oil a week, I got that fixed. Whole thing cost me more than $1200. This is just one thing that went wrong.
Quote from volente_00: There are 2 kinds of people in life Those that let things happen and bitch about them. Those that make things happen. If you want to get ahead work 60 hours a week instead of 40 and stop crying until you figure out a way to work smarter for more money. Until that time comes, stop looking for excuses to keep doing what you are doing now.
Yea Yea Work harder. Work harder. All you people say the same thing. But you have never been able to solve a simple math problem that a 5 year old can. How are people supposed to stay ahead when they’re incomes are continuously dropping, and they’re cost of living keeps going up? Also, don’t you realize that to work 60 hours, somebody has to be willing to pay you for that. When there are more people willing to work than people willing to pay them, that’s called unemployment. All your hard work and attitude ain’t gonna fix that. Your theory’s seem to be big on logic and less so on practical application.

Quote from Scataphagos: Oooh, that's a mighty REPUBLICAN/Libertarian view... won't play well with new "Obama largess" devotees.
Well the first flaw in your thinking is to group Republican and Libertarian together. But anyways how come when anyone talks about corporations outsourcing and insourcing cheap labor that hurt regular Americans, they are automatically labeled an Obama loving Socialist?
The work harder argument isn’t working anymore, there are greater forces at work.

And I thought the point was "Work smarter and/or more if necessary... take responsibility for your own future"... silly me.

Quote from forextrades:

I highly doubt she can support herself with a part-time job unless she's a stripper.

:D :D :D

You will note that she lives at home, therefore the need to "support ' herself is really mute....the "rent" she pays is a nominal amount.

She works a hostess and the bar of a weekend at a nice and very popular place...no names.

Good insight, keep your head up partner, all of us in upcoming generations have to deal with these pass downs.

You actually believe a generic quote on a website trying to sell you something rather than the actual statement from a current customer? Did you read the disclaimer? Seriously you need help. Do you really think a major insurance company would sell the exact same plan to 2 different people and charge one person double? I have a life and health insurance license. I don’t know if it’s illegal to have different rates being offered by different agents, but it is not the norm. The company does the underwriting and determines the final premium. It usually does not matter whether you go directly to the company or a broker. So blab all you want, but you’re wrong.

Happens all the time to those that don't shop around. The health insurance I currently have was purchased from that exact website and I pay the stated premium that it shows. My uncle got insurance from the same website a little over 2 months ago and his premium is the same that is listed on the site. How about you inquire from that website for that same plan and report back what they tell you the premium is since I am so wrong. If you are paying $262 monthly on health insurance for a 24 year old male you are just foolish. Keep padding your agent's pockets.

You already know my story. If I can do it so can you, once you DECIDE to.

Quote from volente_00:

Because you don't want it bad enough.

Instead of wasting time on et, go get a second job at a pizza joint since you claim that is the only skill you really have, or since you like delivering, go get a newspaper route from 3 to 6 am for an extra $1000 a month income.

There are 2 kinds of people in life. Those that let things happen, and those that make things happen.

You think you are the only person that ever struggled financially in life ? I too came from a poor family. I can remember once when my parents had to pawn their wedding rings just to make ends meet. Have you ever been to a grocery store and had to help your mom count out $10 in change just so you could eat that night ? When I was 15, I worked 72 hours a week in the summer to just to help pay the bills. During high school I worked 40 hours a week. Was it easy ? No. Did I miss out on fun ? Yes. But it forced me to have to grow up at a young age and to understand that if you want something bad enough, you bust your a$$ and find a way to make it happen. So you have 2 choices, you can either stay held down by the chains that bind you and be miserable the rest of your life or you make the CHOICE to CHANGE your life forever. I've already told you how. The rest is up to you. I made my choice a long time ago, but even with everything that I have now, I will never forget where I came from .

WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER

You must have some bad luck. What year and model toyota ? What engine and how many miles ? When I was poor I bought a Chilton book for whatever car I had and learned how to do the work myself. Brakes are easy to change if you have some basic handtools. I bought used tires for 10 to 15 a piece. A timing belt swap at a Toyota dealership here in Texas does not exceed $300. On most toyota's, the water pump has to come off to in order to access the belt so your mechanic got over you if he charged you labor to put the new pump on. What seals were leaking ? The timing cover gasket or front main or camshaft seal ?
