Looks like a very bad investment buying calls on a stock that is trending down and has many more problems(writeoffs) on the horizon.
Your calls will likely expire worthless.
The chances of Citi going on a rally above $30 between now and the time they expire is pretty darn low because.....
Citi has alot of financial problems, it will be cutting the dividend, and writing off huge losses, the balance sheet is a mess. It will be testing and making new lows. No rally in sight for financials.
Avoid.

As far as Jim Rogers comments on Citi at $5:D I think you are taking him a bit to literally. I don't think he was saying the stock would actually go to $5 but rather he meant the stock would be going down further.

I know Jim is talking the stock down in order to buy in cheap!! Thats how panic selling is engineered!!

Maybe the writeoffs is already priced in the stock!! The stock has lost 50% of its 2007 value already.

Tomorrow another 20, 000+ on same month & Strike. What does this tell you the pros are doing!!??

The FEB and March CALLS are very active!! Do you guys just look at charts and news???

Are they buying or selling these calls? Did they also trade stock at the same time? Did the price of the option move when they traded the calls (in other words, did they pound the bid?)

Huge volume means nothing in these large caps. You simply don't know what the position was.

Let's say these "pros" bought 20k calls and shorted 2M shares of stock. I'd say that's a pretty good bearish position.

The stock has assets in access of 1,800 Billion$$$$ and drops 50% in value under 6 mths tells me its panic selling on bad news and fear!! [created by guys like Jim Rogers]

Citi losing 30Billions plus on writeoffs will not kill off the company IMHO. But it may kill off the shorties!!:D :D

Only time will tell who is right and who is wrong!!
