LOL, so in your eyes CNN shoulders none of the blame
This wasn't addressed to me but I want to answer .
In my eyes the only blame CNN shoulders is for letting Trump get by with far too many lies, without exposing them as such. We have a President who meets all the criteria for a clinical diagnosis of severe narcissism and he also appears to have sociopathic tendencies. Since he started campaigning he has told his followers that what the news media reports is fake, which is not true. In fact, virtually never does the mainstream, professional network media report anything fake, i.e., something they have made up out of the blue with no truth to it whatsoever. Occasionally the media is mistaken, but not often. When they make a mistake, they are generally quick to make a correction once the error is known. Here, I am not, like some of you, confusing editorial content and news.
On the other hand, Donald Trump is a pathological and serial liar. The job of the Press is is to report fact; not lies. Trump leaves the Press with absolutely no choice. They can't ethically report Trump's known lies verbatim without exposing them as lies. Otherwise they would be complicit in Trumps lying.* It would be unethical for the press to report Trump's statements verbatim without noting that his statements are untrue. The Press can't act ethically and remain true to their profession while reporting Trump's lies as though they were facts. The press can be faulted for being far too easy on Trump. Whenever they let him lie without correcting the record, they are not doing their job. But now, thankfully, that seems to be changing. They press has shown signs of waking up to their responsibility to the public. It's none too soon.

*Complicity of the Press in State lies is what takes place under totalitarian regimes. That kind of non-reporting can not be allowed in Republics such as the United States where the Press is obligated to exposed State lies. When the President speaks he represents the State which in a democratic Republic is supposed to represent the best interests of the people . The President's lies become State lies. The President must not lie. In the past, the kind of lies U.S. Presidents told were often difficult to discover. They seemed plausible and therefore truthful. However the U.S. now has a President that consistently tells lies that are often immediately recognizable by the press, although they may not be quite so obvious to the public. And on the rare occasion when the current President's lies have not been immediately obvious they have been fairly quickly discovered.
