Yes, it has been the way of the Democrats for decades.

That's not true at all, Dems suck at messaging - they just make some sarcastic remark and move on while Republicans get angry and repeat the same BS ad nauseam, this is one reason Repubs are reliable voters unlike Dems.

The Democrats don't suck at messaging. It's hard to suck at repetitive messaging to fanatical followers when 80% of the media, Hollywood, late night comedians, and most of the large lobbying firms are behind you. Democrats suck at execution of policy.

Actually Democrats are good at policy - just compare the number of laws Dems passed when they had control of all three chambers as opposed to Republicans.

Messaging is the problem - 'media/Hollywood/comedians' which you bought up are always chasing shinier objects, so the core message always gets lost in the novelty.

One of the political wags in North Carolina once stated - "Democrats have good policies but are terrible at execution. Republicans have terrible policies but are good at execution."

This quote holds a lot of truth when taking a look at the two parties over the past three decades. Of course, "terrible vs. good" policies depend on your personal political perspective - but the realities of implementing policies and setting them into place ring true in this quote. Republicans tend to have a very structured approach when implementing policies (including having a PAC that actually writes the laws word-for-word for states & D.C. to implement); Democrats tend to shoot from the hip with much disorganization and when they pass legislation it tends to fall apart under its own weight due to poor execution.
