James Comey’s Latest Statement Is An Indictment Of Comey, Not Trump

FYI, I don't like to click on links. Please post the article or at least the section you want to use as evidence. Thanks!

Don't worry, it's Weekly Standard - a very conservative rag.

Here is the money quote anyway

However, it's worth noting the broader context of Clapper's remarks. After denying he'd seen evidence of collusion, Clapper added "That's not to say there wasn't any [collusion], I just didn't see any evidence of it before I left [the Obama administration]."

Haha. If he didn't see any evidence 'before he left', what is he talking about?

OK fine, let Trump's DOJ charge and prosecute Lynch for obstruction, I don't care at all - but you didn't answer the second part - if changing language is obstruction then changing FBI directors while asking him to end an investigation isn't?

I doubt whether it is in the best interests of the Trump administration to prosecute Lynch -- after all the conversation comes down to a he says, she says thing with very little evidence. Now the admission from Comey (his own words) that he leaked information with evidence of what was leaked and to who - to back it up is a matter that is far more likely to have prosecution stick. But even then this is a weak case since the info Comey leaked was not classified, it was his own memo, and the question will be as the head of the FBI does Comey have the right to decide which non-confidential info to distribute to whom.

The Russia thing and the current hearings with Comey are a wet towel and only hurts the Democrats. If the Democrats want to remove Trump from office they would be far better off to focus on Trump' business interests and the ties to the administration. Hire a top tier law firm to investigate everything patiently for months, write a solid legal brief, do a court filing, and wait two weeks to build the media publicity then use the court action to demand that the Senate impeach the President if the case is solid. It may not be as "sexy" as shouting Russia, Comey firing, etc. but would be far more likely to stick as factual grounds for impeachment.

Drive enough of a wedge between the President and a few Republican Senators during the months leading up to the impeachment so several will come over and join the Democrats in voting "Yes". I can probably list at least a dozen Republican Senators (McCain, etc.) who would be likely to join because they already dislike Trump and if the evidence was solid they would gladly sign on for impeachment.

The Democrats need to create a strategic fact-based plan if they desire to take down the president with cause, and not focus on nonsense such as Russia, etc.

Absolutely no problem if Trump wants to go after Comey for the 'leaks', get Adolf Keetler on the line and get going with the charges, it would be great entertainment seeing Comey dragged through the mud like he did with Clinton just a few months back.

Secondly, don't think Dems want Trump to be removed, they want him to be there plagued with his scandals and incompetence so that they can undo the damage they encountered while holding the White House. Just like Bill Clinton, Reagan, Bush and then Obama lost their majorities in office, Democrats are hoping that Trump would stay put and do as much damage to his party, impeaching will only lead to his base getting excited - they don't want that.

But this is now out of Dem hands anyway, Mueller will decide on all that and what Dems want or their strategy is irrelevant, you guys can drag Comey through the mud with bullshit like leaks, Mueller is the guy you should be worried about.

Trump now needs to purge the Obama loyalists from government. Clearly the place to start is the FBI, with Comey's pals with whom he conferred on these issues. The CIA is infested with leftist activists and worse. The IRS is stacked with political partisans. I believe Obama's commissioner is still there, even though he lied to and defied congress.

Someone else who clearly has to go, one way or another, is Deputy AG Rosenstein, who stupidly brought in a special counsel in a fit of cowardice. After Comey's performance, no one could argue for a special counsel with a straight face, but now we are stuck with one, who happens to be a long time Bush family retainer. Trump needs officials with some backbone, not spineless cucks who can be intimidated by the leftwing media.
