It's Past Time For A Third Party In The US

Nigel Farage has led the Brexit Party to victory while the establishment parties are left assessing the damage after their historic losses, with the Brexiteer declaring: “This is just the beginning.”
With almost all regions counted, the Brexit Party is in the clear lead after winning around one-third of the vote and projected to have gained 29 seats. In a distant second, the pro-Remain Liberal Democrats won 15 seats, while the new Change UK (CUK), established solely to stop Brexit, failed to gain a single seat.

“Never before in British politics has a party just 6 weeks old won a national election,” Mr Farage posted to Twitter Monday morning. “If Britain does not leave the EU on October 31st, these results will be repeated at a general election.

“History has been made. This is just the beginning.”

Media reports that the Tories suffered their worst election result in two centuries, dropping to just nine per cent of the vote and winning only four seats — losing 15 — while the Labour Party is said to have had its worst election result in 100 years, halving its presence in the European Parliament from 20 to just ten seats.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain on Monday morning, Mr Farage warned that the establishment political parties will suffer in the next General Election, scheduled for 2021, if they fail to take the UK out of the EU by October 31st, saying: “That date will become a bigger factor in peoples’ minds as these five months go by. If we don’t leave on the 31st of October, then the Brexit Party will go on to a General Election and stun everybody there, too.”

The Brexit Party leader later told the BBC that his party would be ready for even an October snap General Election, saying that it “might not be easy, but that work starts this afternoon.”

Recent polling of Westminster voting intentions point to the Brexit Party being ahead of the Conservative Party and just two points away from taking the lead over Labour.

Next month, the Brexit Party is challenging the establishment parties in the Peterborough by-election after the former Labour MP Fiona Onasanya was unseated following a recall petition.

After winning, according to provisional results, 29 seats in the European Parliament, the Brexit Party could find itself gain its first seat in the British House of Parliament, the next step in Mr Farage’s challenge to the two-party system, bringing about a “peaceful revolution” in British politics.

Farage is operating in a parliamentary system, that is a big difference from a presidential system.

Third parties are non starters. The way to do it is to take over a party. The conservatives have been successful at taking over parties throughout our history. In fact, neither major political party was founded on conservatism. They move like parasites.

If you want to destroy the greatest liberal democracy in the history of the planet, simply do what the conservatives have done, be a parasitic ideology and destroy a political party from the inside out.

Trump is actually killing conservatism as we speak, what will arise out of the Republican Party, I have no idea but the conservative principles of small government and fiscal responsibility are gone. So good luck with your movement but know that America is a liberal country and has been from its founding. If youre against that you may want to rethink where you’re going.

No problem. Probably already happening as you write.

Garbage.

So, you are saying that Bernie has destroyed the dem party?

Nothing spells "takeover" quite like having the second leading candidate not even being a democrat, except on a ballot.

Absolutely not. A good fight makes you stronger and Sanders and the Democratic socialist aren’t really making any head way.

They got one congressman in out of a couple dozen candidates they put up. Their Medicare for all plan is fizzling out and the green dream isn’t even being debated.

Sanders is very much like trump in that fact that he has shit ideas and is selling a con. Democrat voters, however, are not like republican voters and are less likely to fall for a con.

You trump supporters don’t have the street smarts to know when you’re being con’d. I keep telling you guys Trump is playing three card montey and you think he’s going to turn over the queen but you don’t have enough smarts to understand the Queen was never in the shuffle to begin with.

You’ve been lied to to get tax cuts for the wealthy through and judges that will strip worker and health and environmental protections.

You’re a bunch of fools.

"a good fight makes you stronger"

Let's revise that a little, shall we?

A good fight with Bernie has made the party commier.

Don’t be mad at democrats because you got lied to. Your dumb ass thought a wall was possible and continued to believe that it was possible through a protracted shut down. Fox News got you thinking the shut down wasn’t long enough.

Buddy, you are being manipulated by some very powerful media outlets. They are destroying your brain. Currently, you believe there was an fbi coup attempt.

You’re destroying your brain, buddy. Turn off Fox.

Of course the corrupt pols here have done their best to make it impossible to mount a third party challenge. No one thought Trump would win either or that the Brexit party would prevail in the UK. At the least a third party challenge could take down some of the worst of the republican sellouts and get Trump's attention.

But that might mean a dem would get elected, people will scream. Possibly and it is possibly too late to rescue our country but what is the alternative?

People already blame Jill Stien or Bernie for Trump getting elected.

3rd parties don't work for numerous reasons but one interesting one is that most people are sheeple and will blindly follow thier party's line no matter how stupid or bad the candidate's proposed are (plenty of evidence on both sides here). Significant numbers of Dems and GOPs will vote their party no matter how vile they think their candidate is. That prevents any 3rd party from gaining traction because of the fear of the other side winning with thier more vile candidate.

Decades past time, but will never happen. Put this idea in the same category as meaningful campaign finance reform and term limits. Much needed and not a chance in hell of ever being put in place. We have groups of bank robbers with access to bank security, the ability to disable all systems, has the combo to the safe, and at the end of the day has complete immunity if things go south, but we're expecting that group to give all that up and do the right thing. LOL.

There just has to be a cause big enough to support a third party candidate that neither of the other two are willing to support.
