I looked it up... you were wrong. There have been 19 elections where the winner won without gaining a majority of the votes. (since they started recorded elections in the 1800s.) its very common.

Giving us the definition for the word majority in a parliamentary system was a misdirection.

I use the standard definition of "majority" and the standard definition of "minority". Please feel free to redefine these common English language words. I'm OK with that, as long as you're happy. I would argue that his message resonates with 70% of the people. Although he himself may not.

I would wager that the millions who didn't vote, don't support Trump nor care about his message. He was the rabble rouser who got people off the couch. If you stayed on the couch, it meant you didn't care for him and probably leaned towards the default: Hillary.

and that thought was the main reason I argued with Piezoe. I don't really care about the definition of majority here vs a parliamentary system.

My point is that a president has to rally millions of people into his corner that did not vote for him anyway. That a few million people did not vote for Trump in CA vs Hillary is irrelevant.

When you realize millions of americans don't vote at all...
All presidents are minority presidents.
They become powerful the way Reagan became powerful when the push good ideas past the opposition... which is the establishment dems and republicans.
