But above all good trading is boring , and I am bored most of the time , so posting on E T helps me from overtrading , hence stopping from losing.I will go in exile after 999 or be banned before that.
Remember, in every gold rush there are unqualified people on the sidelines selling tools, maps, clothing and food. They’ll tell you what to wear, the route to take and sell you supplies they think you need even though they have never spent one year prospecting themselves. And as soon as the gold runs out in one area, they’re off to the next…selling the tools.
Unless they start with close to a million, most buy and hold guys won't be millionaires within 5 years. A few very lucky guys might if they started the 5 years from Mar 2009. On the other hand, a few traders might if they started the 5 years trading from Mar 2009.Now that I look back, if I just followed the buy and hold strategy with most of my trades I would have been a millionaire within 5 years.

I just read the other day for one of the tier-1 brokerages for active retail traders/investors the average account size is just over $60,000. Lets say you have a full time job and add in $10K each year for the next 5 years and the stocks & ETFs you pick average 25% ROR. In 5 years you have $1,167,949. See, that wasn't so hard. Having a job helps a great deal, since compounding is the opposite of paying bills from your trading account. Trading your way up to a million without a job - very few can do that.
With math you can proof anything, all depends of how you pick the data for calculating.

Your not including compounding, the 7th wonder of the world. I used a compounding calculator which adds in the compounding. And how could you assume you know what the avg account size of everyone is? 25% ROR requires aggressive growth type of investing/trading, in this long term bull market 25% is not such a big deal. I realize I hit the annual instead of the daily compounding - so actually the right number is $1,403,978. Think big or go home.
