I think there are some clear similarities but by understanding them alone won't make me a profitable trader. Some of the traits that I think are useful are: not being results oriented, having no fear of placing a bet/trade, understand risk vs. reward better than most, understand bankroll management to a tee, calculating odds and probabilites, and using statistics to create an edge.
Quite a few top tier firms use poker in their training process so there's gotta be at least a decent correlation.

Welcome to the forum guys and I'm sure your skills will "help" you as traders.
A little advise for you both.
Use this forum for networking yourselves into a top tier prop firm and nothing else.
Pay careful attention to posts by Dustin, Reardon Metal and uptick.
Be very careful about all the other advise you get from ET as well intended as it may sound.

goto vegas. trade from 6am to 1pm. grab lunch and then play poker rest of the day and night.

Trading and poker are not mutually exclusive.....
Why don't you play poker full-time and focus on trading market moves that occur on daily or weekly charts...at least until you get the knack for trading.
