Is Tim Cook A Traitor?

ET, the phone was not owned by the terrorist. It was owned by his employer, a local government agency. He is dead in any event, so his privacy rights died with him. The phone companies are constantly subject to orders to assist wiretapping. How is this any different?
yes well, that's the problem, he is dead. Now if he was alive on the stand with my Cousin Vinnie as his lawyer we could hear a different side. It's different because the iphone is sold as a phone which can't be wiretapped. Not even by the FBI. So, not taking sides at this point, but it seems very deep in the long run. I would just like to hear both sides argue on a level playing field. They use to have this thing called the Supreme Court. If they would ever bring that back I would go by their ruling.

It was a farce from the beginning, an exercise in trying to set legal precedent not an actual technical issue. Other agencies hack iphones routinely.

I'm no Tim Cook fan and I don't own any Apple products but what I saw was a guy tell his customers a couple of years ago that they were gonna protect their data and then when his feet were put to the fire he held the line.

That is the kind of CEO you want running your company.

until USA officially declares war on ISIS we are going to always be in a grey area. Gitmo is totally unconstitutional unless it is a POW camp. etc, on and on. Do the San Bernadino bombers, one of who was a U.S. citizen have rights or are they simply enemy combatants. On and on. Who decides who a terrorist is? It's a mess. Our constitution is actually written to protect ISIS.

You would think after Viet Nam when we were never really sure who the enemy was we would have changed our "conduct in conlict" rules. Now, nobody knows who has rights and who is the enemy. And if you are not careful in the wording you may find yourself on the enemies list.

I think Cook behaved shamefully and should be fired. It wouldn't surprise me either if Obama's silicon valley paymasters told him to drop the case. This is the kind of attention they don't want. After all, it helps if the American people think of them as loyal citizens when they are busy selling us out.

Cook's hypocrisy is clear because we all know he would have folded like a lawn chair if the Chinese had demanded the same thing. In fact, he probably already has given it to them and anything else they couldn't steal.
