Ann Coulter's take on Newt:
"In addition to having an affair in the middle of Clinton's impeachment; apologizing to Jesse Jackson on behalf of J.C. Watts -- one of two black Republicans then in Congress â- for having criticized "poverty pimps," and then inviting Jackson to a State of the Union address; cutting a global warming commercial with Nancy Pelosi; supporting George Soros' candidate Dede Scozzafava in a congressional special election; appearing in public with the Rev. Al Sharpton to promote nonspecific education reform; and calling Paul Ryan's plan to save Social Security "right-wing social engineering," we found out this week that Gingrich was a recipient of Freddie Mac political money. "
My take:
He was also the recipient of a lot of money from FNM apparently. Chump change compared to what democrat hacks like Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick walked away with, but $1.5 mill looks very bad. He can't possibly explain it away either as "consulting fees". Everyone knows that is a lie. He was paid because FNM and FRE are slush funds for both parties, a kind of unemployment insurance plan for out of work pols. It's mainly a democrat scam, but they have to spread a little money to republicans to keep them in line. Vin Weber got some too.
It's no that Newt is particularly evil. He just needed money, and he probably thought he was entitled after all he had done for his party. Romney was born rich and made a huge pile of money on his own. He could afford to stay more or less pure.
Ann Coulter is solidly behind Romney. Her point is that he is the best candidate to take on obama. It's hard to argue with that.
