Is John McCain running a Bob Dole-like Campaign?

Quote from quietriotrader:

I believe so.
First, why did Bob Dole lose to Clinton in '96?
Answer that one for better clarification onto why McCain may lose to Obama.

Secondly, I believe John McCain and his campaign have lots of similarities to Dole and Dole's campaign.

Here they are:

1.Both were/are considered "oldest" nominee to run

2.Both were decorated war heroes

3.Both republicans in unfavorable times

4.Both have those bad tempers

5.They are both running against a young perceived "inexperienced" and "change" candidates ie. McCain/Obama - Dole/Clinton. And usually the general public loves the underdog like Obama and like Clinton.

What are the thoughts?

Wrong, dummy. Clinton was an incumbant with great ratings, which gave him a huge advantage. Has nothing to do with the other factors you have given.

Quote from ZZZzzzzzzz: Translation: McCain will pander and lie as much as necessary to get votes.
Not nearly as much as Obama, for sure. Talking about lying and pandering! I mean, we need to track his statements' 20-day MA to understand what he (Obama) wants to say. That's the "change" he's proposing: today he'll amend what he said last week and tomorrow will give you half his statement two weeks ago, upside down. :)

Looks like we can get on with analyzing the friends of "the candidate who's middle name shall not be mentioned" because feet have been spotted sticking out from under the house.

Translation:

"Yes, that is correct, McCain will pander and lie to get votes."

piezoe,

Liberal means hard left, that's all. And Obama, according to most sources, is one of the leftmost: he'll make a terrible president if he gets the job, on that count alone.

You just can't help throwing insults out instead of arguments, right?

I just wish we get a President as good as GWB, he'll be hard to replace. His real record on defense, economy, education and social welfare is way up there, better than Clinton's by a long shot. But, the media want drama to save themselves from their slow internet death and decided to oppose him every step of the way to sell papers and magazines... and many people listened to them to the great detriment of this country. Let's see what McCain will do.

One thing i agree with is that Bush will be hard to replace. He is truly one of a kind. (i hope!)

George W. Bush, has a record on "defense" alright! And it includes the less than brilliant non-capture of Bin Laden, and the non-vanquishing of the Taliban from Afghanistan, and the non-transformation of Afganistan into a stable democracy. He did manage to successfully fly the Saudi Royal Family out of the US. I'll give him that.

His "real record" on aggression is even more "amazing" than his record on "defense".

No doubt the 15,000+ lads coming home maimed for life will be interested in your appraisal of Bush's "real record on defense."

You could be waiting a 100 years.

After all, since we started out in 1789, we've only had 1, maybe 2 Presidents, the equal of your boy W.

They're rare birds, very rare.

Saddam is out of commission, Iraq has now a real chance to finally get freedom and democracy and same for Afghanistan (I hope they don't blow it, excuse the pun) our friends love and respect us and our enemies fear us like never before, the homeland is safe and secure, AlQaeda is decimated and on the run, all thanks to our leadership in Washington and our heroic armed forces. All despite those liberal nattering nabobs of negativism who agreed first (when it was politically expedient) and turned around to stab GWB in the back when it suited their political ambitions. That's "Very Accomplished" to me. Some loose ends, sure, give it a bit more time, John will take cate of it, no problemo.

Bush addressed America's financial woes in lofty, technical terms.

"And so I firmly believe that, you know, if there was a magic wand to wave, I'd be waving it, of course."

He later explained: "I think that if there was a magic wand to say, 'OK, drop price,' I'd do that."

:D:D

I saw that too

Is it too much to ask that we have someone that represents us that can actually string a few words together to make a coherent sentence?

What color is the sky in your world? Our best friends hate us and our enemies hardly respect us after our abortion in Iraq.
