Is it worth trading the week of Christmas & New Years?

Quote from newwurldmn:

lots of dislocations during the holidays and a discrete event (year end) that causes many to trade without profit motive.

+1

Add to that some of the "big dawgs" being on holidays .. leaving their underlings on the desk .. and these can be some of the best trading days of the year, from a margin perspective at least, if not on volume

whew!

good day for me in the forex market

glad I was in

who knows what will happen tomorrow on Friday

then we have New Years to navigate

And that is one holiday celebrated by almost everybody

otherwise, a whole month's worth of sins forgiven in just one day after Christmas

say what you want about Jesus, but on a forex day like today, you gotta love him

Hi. Is it worth trading the week of Christmas & New Years? Is the market dead or can it still be traded?

TWTR and TSLA are two examples of good trading opportunities, and both are high profile stocks which were volatile before the holidays.

You are talking about retails traders, I was talking about corporations and high net worth individuals who trade directly on the Interbank.

If the CEO of BMW in Munich wants to buy 50 million US dollars right now, do you think he will have to wait until Christmas is over to do so, or wait for some forex broker to open his shop because of some holidays? :p

You think the CEO of BMW is thinking about currency trades on Christmas eve? Unlikely. Since it's a holiday in most of the business world, they're not in the offices - and that's why the volatility is lower as well.
