Carter was the worst president, economically. There is no question about it. I haven't seen anything come close to what it was like back then.

I was quoting FACTS.....

What I am hearing in response are idiotic ramblings and opinions of paranoid left wing zealots.....

Dispute the facts......with facts...

Exactly what is Hillary or Obama going to do...he is an empty suit...no experience....Hitler and Mussolini both gave great passionate speeches....Peron and Chavez the same....

You guys get in a battle of wits and you are totally unarmed....

But, the Dems have never had a better idea about anything....
-------------------------

The whole world stands by while we are in Iraq. I have yet to hear any dialogue on how to contain terrorism from anyone in the world.

We'll bring home the troops and gather intelligence from Montana or Utah (sarcasm). We need to be in the ME, however unpleasant it may be.

Gee I would think the President that led us into the Great Depression would be higher on the worst President's list with respect to economics. After all unemployment at 5% does not compare with breadlines and market crashes and run on banks, and almost everyone losing jobs.

Bush is bad but the hyperbole is kind of funny... Housing bubble was caused by falling interest rates and a lot of things outside of the Executive Branch (private sector lending money to those wo could not afford it etc..). I think people forget that we have had some really bad leaders in this country in the early part of the 1900s and 1800s.

Robert Wuhl has a great piece on HBO where he lectures to a college audience and talks about some of our worst Presidents over time. Bush is on the list for sure but economically not in the top few.

Quote from SteveD:

History will judge Bush pretty high up....

8 years of low interest rates...

low unemployment....

created millions of new jobs...

huge increase in home ownership....

Now, some of you peabrains don't realize that only 1% of mortgages are in default....subprime has a lot more...

Reality: Congress use to bash lenders for "red lining" a neighborhood and not making loans to low income people...now exotic mortgages come along and those people get a loan....no surprise they are having trouble....

Popping the housing bubble is good....brings homes in certain area back in line with median income of area....

Great mystery: Why Bill Clinton called "first black President"..he never appointed any black to anything, other than Vernon Jordan to help him with Monica, LOL...now he is really pissed off because that "boy" has gotten off the planation...acting uppity...LOL

Bush has appointed two black Sec of State!!!!

Bush appointed two conservative Supremes....

Most, if not all, major legislation has gotten through....

Most court cases have been upheld by Supremes...

Congress approval ratings well below Bush....Reid and Pelosi are fools.....best thing to happen to Republicans was losing control of House/Senate.....two years of Dems in charge shows complete chaos....

Sad fact is Liberals cannot win the argument....have to make someone the bad guy....vote for a Liberal and I will save you from the bad guy.....

And, Bush finally confronted the major problem of the world today, Islamic jihadist, bent on destroying the world...

But, the Dems have never had a better idea about anything....

Not one specific idea has come from Clinton or Obama...

Come on, SteveD, you're wasting your time quoting facts. To paraphrase the late William F. Buckley, "what's the point in debating someone who believes the moon is made up of green cheese."

Sounds like a good theme for the '08, elections.

looking at that chart, it almost seems the Republicans can't wait to bankrupt the nation as soon as they get into office. Where did the mantra that "republicans are for small govt." come from? You gotta love the american propaganda machine.

The chart does cut through all the hype and nonsense doesn't it.

The irony is that we think other countries like (ie: South Korea) are being sold lies about their governments and how great they are but the truth is all governments lie.

What an amazing con job.

What I want to know is when these people go into politics do they all take hypnosis or brainwashing classes, seriously how do they all manage to get away with this. ?

Bush is GREAT!

Lots of jobs. The pay may not be keeping up with inflation, but with lots of jobs, people can have 2 or 3 to make ends meet. It's a good compromise.

And more homeownership! His is the ownership society! The financial institutions having the real ownership when people can't pay their mortgage is what the problem is. Those people warning about the housing bubble years ago should have been warning about deadbeat borrowers instead!

The libs don't understand that all that missing money and those sweetheart deals with corporate friendlies have been loading up the Republican coffers for future campaign contributions! Thank you taxpayers!!

When we exercise our free-speech rights with those donations, we are going to SCREAM in their ears!!

I've NEVER heard a liberal give a specific, coherent explanation on how they would raise the pay of an employee through government interference. What specific government program that the democrats support will raise wages? (And don't say "raise the minimum wage.")

OK Steve, over 1/2 $Trillion wasted in Iraq and counting, estimates of over 1 $Trillion before it's all said and done. Thousands of dead American soldiers and 10's of thousands of seriously wounded Americans, 100,000+ dead Iraq citizens dead and all this because of our President Bush made a mistake. Losing the war in Afghanistan , runaway inflation, loss of higher paying jobs, failed immigration policy, failed energy policy, yet he's going to make sure our kids are safe from steroids while heroin is flooding in due 100% to Bush's failed war policy in Afghanistan, bloated deficit and growing by the minute, liberal crazy spending habits. He's spending our money and our kids and grandkids money by the way. Loss of OUR FREEDOM from government intrusion, loss of constitutional rights. You already knew all this and I'll bet you could add pages of negatives for Bush if you were honest to yourself. I'm not a left wing zealot so you may not of been addressing me. As you see the facts back up all the Bush bashers. And Steve this isn't a battle of the wits it is a question of common sense and putting America before your party loyalities. Politics isn't religion. By any standard Bush is a failed president and probably could be impeached if any one in Washington had balls. It's ok to be against Obama or Clinton, but to continue backing Bush after all his failures, lies and incompetence makes you look like a party hack. America's success is more important than the republican party's success.
