IRS Has Lost More E-mails . . .

IRS ADMITS LEAKING CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION Used Against Mitt Romney in 2012 Elections

The conservative group National Organization of Marriage accused the IRS of leaking documents to the Obama Campaign in 2012. A top Obama campaign official Joe Solomese used the information to attack Mitt Romney during the 2012 election. The Huffington Post used the leaked documents in a story questioning former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s support for traditional marriage. The document showed Romney donated $10,000 to NOM.

The IRS agreed this week to pay only $50,000 in damages to the National Organization for Marriage after leaking confidential information to a leading gay marriage group.
The Daily Signal reported, via Free Republic:

Two years after activists for same-sex marriage obtained the confidential tax return and donor list of a national group opposed to redefining marriage, the Internal Revenue Service has admitted wrongdoing and agreed to settle the resulting lawsuit.

The Daily Signal has learned that, under a consent judgment today, the IRS agreed to pay $50,000 in damages to the National Organization for Marriage as a result of the unlawful release of the confidential information to a gay rights group, the Human Rights Campaign, that is NOM’s chief political rival.

“Congress made the disclosure of confidential tax return information a serious matter for a reason,” NOM Chairman John D. Eastman told The Daily Signal. “We’re delighted that the IRS has now been held accountable for the illegal disclosure of our list of major donors from our tax return.”

The Daily Signal is seeking comment on the settlement from the IRS and Justice Department.

In his order entered this morning, District Judge James C. Cacheris granted the settlement of NOM’s suit against the IRS, which was represented by the Department of Justice.

In February 2012, the Human Rights Campaign posted on its web site NOM’s 2008 tax return and the names and contact information of the marriage group’s major donors, including soon-to-be Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. That information then was published by the Huffington Post and other liberal-leaning news sites.

HRC’s president at the time, Joe Solmonese, was tapped that same month as a national co-chairman of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

The numbers are getting to a staggering level for the dems who still believe this is random, 95% of conservatives get targeted by sheer chance, then Lerners hard drive crashes, where the odds are 1 in 1000, and the arrogant left wing dufus in charge of the IRS is so fucking stupid he tries to say that he knows how statistics work, and that if something has a 3-5% chance over the course of 365 days, then it also has a 3-5% chance of happening every day.

If you had a 5% chance of your hard drive crashing every single day that would mean that everyones hard drive crashes on average every 20 days, or almost twice a year.

GOP Rep. Massie Burns IRS Head with MIT Quip

Republican Congressman Thomas Massie got into a bit of a back-and-forth with IRS Commissioner John Koskinen tonight during the hearing over Lois Lerner‘s hard drive crashing, and Massie had a snappy one-liner ready when Koskinen challenged him on a matter of probability.

Massie brought up the statistic that there’s a 3-5 percent chance that a hard drive would fail on a regular basis, but factoring in the 10 days it took between an inquiry for Lerner’s emails and for it to turn out that her hard drive crashed, Massie said that’s a probability of 1 in 1000.

Koskinen said, “That’s actually not how probability works.”

Massie shot back, “You don’t have to explain probability to me. I took the class at MIT.”

I totally feel your pain. Same problem with the probabilities re climate change.

(Thanks for the tip, youknowwho.)

Yep, it was all just a big coincidence, target conservative groups at a 95% rate, then because you were a victim of incredible bad luck plead the fifth amendment in court, and then your luck takes a real ride south when when suddenly all of your emails that would have vindicated you dissappear off of your hard drive from the company you work for, a company that just so happens to be known for their meticulous dedication to record keeping.

Humor me for a second on this, and tell me something piezoe, regardless of where you work, how many times have you ever lost pertinent data on a computer you own due to a hard drive crash? Ill give you a hint, i recently went swimming in the fucking river with my cell phone in my pocket, and although it would never turn on again, i was able to get everything that was on it, and transfer it over to a new phone/computer. I sold computers for a short period of time while going to school, and it was incredibly rare to hear of people losing the information on their computer, people came in with all kinds of reasons as to why their computer was fucked up, and the low level techies were almost always able to get their stuff off of it, except in very rare circumstances, with the thousands of computers i sold it probably only happened a couple of times, Lois Lerner must be the single unluckiest human being alive.

If nothing else, Lerner should be found guilty of criminal negligence, the IRS would put you in jail if you tried the same story with your taxes.

The amount of cognitive dissnonance it requires to believe that there "Isn't even a smidgen of corruption" on this one is unrivaled.

"Million to 1 shot doc, could have happened to anyone, swear to god."

chances are you're right.

chances are you're right.

Thank you for changing your opinion in the face of overwhelming evidence. The ability to admit you are wrong and change your stance is a rare quality in this day and age.

I sure butchered this basic math, instead of twice a year it should say almost 20 times a year.

I went back and enjoyed that video even more.
I looked him up on wikipedia.
he wasn't kidding about MIT, at all.

Thomas Massie was born in Huntington, West Virginia. He grew up in Vanceburg, Kentucky and met his future wife, Rhonda. He earned a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a Master's degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[1]

In 1993, at MIT, he and his wife started a successful company, called SensAble Devices Inc.[2][3] Massie was the winner in 1995 of the $30,000 Lemelson-MIT Student Prize for inventors.[1] The company was re-incorporated as SensAble Technologies, Inc. in 1996 after partner Bill Aulet joined the company.[2] They raised $32 million of venture capital, had 24 different patents, and 70 other employees.[4]

After Massie sold the company, he and his wife moved back to their hometown in Lewis County. They raised their children on a farm,[3][5] where he built his own off-the-grid timberframe house.[6]
