You MUST pay car insurance ONLY if you choose to drive a car. If you wish to walk, you are not required to purchase anything. So that comparison is irrelevant.

You MUST pay SS because it is a TAX. A TAX is not a PURCHASE. Also irrelevant.

You MUST pay to get a driver's license ONLY if you WISH to drive a CAR. Also irrelevant.

+1 TT. my income are capital gains only. i'm not paying any SS. i'm not forced by anyone to pay those taxes. at least not yet.

Born into money? Man, I wish I was. My parents divorced when I was 4 months old. I lived in a run down apartment that had more bugs than I could count. My mother worked two jobs to put food on the table. We had an old beat up mazda - some ugly green color.

I paid for my OWN college education with student loans. I worked throughout college in night clubs and security details (my size allowed such) and I got my first job right out of college - as a plumber because I couldn't find a job in my field of study (finance). I cleaned shit drains and toilets, installed sinks, sump pumps, gas lines, that sorta thing for TWO YEARS until finally landing a job in my field of study.

At that point I worked up the corporate ladder from a lowly analyst position until I became the finance director of a large multi national. I had to travel and live all over Europe and Latin America to get where I was. Some rotten places, let me tell you.

I earned every cent I have. Earned. And now you want to come in and say a portion of what I worked hard for I have to give to someone else because they chose not to work as hard.

What gives you the right to do that? Why should I listen to anything you have to say on the subject? Where does the government get the right to tell me what I have to purchase with my hard earned money that I already gave them their overpriced share of?

And yes, I want a flat tax. Go ahead and make that poor argument against so I can expose you for the dirty socialist you are.

No, I never wanted nor asked for help from anyone. And no one ever gave me it. Therefore, why should I? People who want to succeed can - with effort and good work ethic. Are there exceptions? There always are. But by FAR the majority should get what they work for.

Trying to keep the poor down? They have the same opportunities I did. Same. Actually, more. I never had half the safety nets they do today. We never were on welfare! I never took unemployment! My mother never used food stamps! I ate Salisbury Steak and Turkey Slices and Banquet Chicken that was 3 for a buck. I don't think I had a real steak until I was somewhere around 13.
