I disagree. I dont buy all the spin about WMD's.
My original take on this has not changed.
Here is the timeline:
1) Saddam invades Kuwait
2) Kuwait calls for help
3) US shows up and pounds Saddam into submission, there is a cease fire and agreements are made.
4) Saddam starts blocking inspections, thumbs his nose
5) Clinton is a pu**y and barely does anything
6) UN is worthless and does nothing
7) Bush comes into power
8) 9/11 shows us what terrorists are willing to do
9) Saddam in violation of ceasefire and UN agreements for a decade+ now
10) Bush gets one more UN resolution passed, the final test.
11) Saddam thumbs nose, provides bullshit docs, acts as guilty
as OJ
12) Bush enforces UN/ceasefire agreements.
Conclusion: NOT a pre-emptive strike. An enforcement of the
original deal and continuation of the original war.
Saddam started the war. He initiated. We only enforced.
WMDs were political bullshit to get support to ENFORCE the agreements.
Simple as that. We didnt need that excuse, but the threat of
Saddam and terrorists getting together to hit us was real at the time.
