Iran Takes Navy Personnel Hostage, Nice Strategy Obama

Theory:

Side A: Israel, Iran, the CIA and ordinary business interests that want to trade with Iran in the energy and other sectors.

Side B: The Defense Department, defense contractors and the Saudis.

Side B sent the boats in to derail the peace agreement. Side A worked together to defuse the situation.

These were very small boats. Why would they be so far offshore on a simple transit mission? There is an Iranian naval base on Farsi, and these sailors would certainly have known not to get close to it. Was no one in their chain of command aware of this trip or the obvious danger? Didn't they have the ability to call for assistance before washing up at an Iranian naval base?

There are a lot of unanswered questions here.
 
There are big natural gas deposits below the Persian Gulf, which no doubt play into the current geopolitics both there and in Syria. Who gets to exploit and sell them, and where the pipelines go.
