All valid points and well explained. No dissent here. To each thier own and you have valid reasons for your purchases.
+1 for you Prof.

Thanks Eddie but I'm just a pig (processor intense geek).

I used to test server hardware in another life so I've become a power snob as I've gotten older. Sort of like the Tim Allen of PC's I guess.

don't forget that bloated win7 requires about 3 times the RAM than IOS !

No, it doesn't even if all of the "bloat" is left intact. It will use not quite double what IOS uses but Win 7 uses the RAM more efficiently. The secret is to use the 64bit OS and preferably Ultimate. Any 32bit OS is just another toy. There are guys working on a 128bit OS as we speak.

If you can do a Google search for optimizing Win 7 OS tech specs, you can turn off all the unnecessary "bloat" and get it to about the same as IOS with more efficient use of the RAM.

What does Prof do with all this hardware?

I keep and use the best of the equipment tested, recycle the leftovers. Most of the leftover equipment I donate, some I sell.

Check the "Pictures of your trading stations" thread for pictures I've posted of the systems and equipment in my office.

IPad Killer to the EXTREME!!
This little baby beats the iPad 1, 2 & 3 hands down. That wormy Apple is nothing but a toy.
Specifications
Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64bit
Battery Battery Life: 4.5hrs
Play 1080p video: 2.4hrs
It's not just the hardware stupid, the elegance of apple products are lost to many. The last thing i want is to lug around a piece of shit windows 7 os on an "easy mode" touch tablet. I have the 64bit version on the pc and it constantly crashes its own product - outlook 2010 64bit, too many issues to list, luckily i have msdn from my company so all microsoft crap is free. Imagine having to pay for them...

Also the battery life is not even half of the ipad.

I had the 3G, 3GS, 4, and went to Android a few months ago. The ability to run flash means more than I thought it would. I can run logmein, slingbox, rhapsody, just as I could under the IP4, but can also watch video within a webpage with flash 10.x. The AMOLED screen on the Android is better than the IP4, IMO. I can also play FT poker.
I find the Android OS ports or these apps to be equal, and in some cases better, than under iOS.
haha looks like you adjusted well. Forgot about flash, that's a big +, on the other hand i got tons of apps on the iphone not to mention all the docks and hookup, if switch to android need to rebuy all of them which sucks.

Going to wait until iphone 5 and decide. Supposely it's a complete redesign not just another evolutionary improvement.

The name calling isn't necessary and if I want elegance I'll put it everywhere else but in a tool.

You see the difference is how the two of us use our "tablets". I use mine as a robust and hardy business tool where I require application standards that Apple can't meet. It isn't that the iPad isn't a fun PC because it is. As as Web OS tool, graphic tool, music box, video player and light browser it is wonderful and quite special but as a business tool it is just lacking or to put it better I guess . . . it has no BALLS! The tech spec comparisons point that out quite clearly in English.

I've been running Windows 7 Prem or Ultimate 64bit on all my systems in my office since it was in beta and I beat the crap out of my systems. Eight gig ram and dual processors is the lightest of my machines all the way to Dual Quad Xeon processors & 32GB each in my 2 servers and I've only had one hiccup in almost 2 years and that was a hardware issue on an older PC. You have to be smarter than the OS & hardware to interact with them is all.

Everyone that is or has every been a road warrior understands the necessity of possessing a powerful business integration tool that will increase one's efficiency and production without increasing one's stress level.

The more powerful laptop the more power they use. Battery life is expected to less on a more powerful piece of equipment. You don't run Bug engines in a Mack truck.

You like Apple's, great! Be my guest to buy and use as many as you want. They make different tools for different applications . . . period
